🚒🔥 SMOKE ALARMS SAVE LIVES! 🔥🚒

⏰ When you change your clocks, don’t forget to check your smoke alarms!

The Hickson Fire Department would like to remind everyone that daylight saving time ends on Sunday, November 1, 2026.

As you turn your clocks back one hour, take a few minutes to make sure your family is protected! 🏠❤️

✅ TEST your smoke alarms to make sure they’re working properly.

🔋 REPLACE batteries when needed, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

🚨 CHECK that smoke alarms are installed on every storey of your home and outside all sleeping areas.

📅 REMEMBER to test your smoke alarms monthly and replace them according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

A working smoke alarm can give you and your family the early warning needed to escape safely in the event of a fire.

❤️ A few minutes of prevention could save a lifetime of memories!

Starting this evening, Oxford County Paramedic Services will use a new system for 911 medical calls to ensure those with the most serious medical conditions continue to be seen first. Police and fire calls are not affected.

When you call 911 for a medical emergency, an emergency communications dispatcher will be there to take your call. You may be asked a few more questions to help dispatchers understand how serious or severe your condition is. If your needs are less urgent and demand for paramedic services is high, you may wait longer for an ambulance.
