This property was a residential home, and with the conversion to mixed use, it underwent many significant and important upgrades to allow for it to accommodate its new use.

Our former Pastry Manager, Kate Batchelor, will be turning on all ovens in the building and baking up a flurry with her own business venture.
Kate’s business, BATCHES BAKE SHOP, features a variety of products baked fresh, from scratch and with so much love. Basically, you’re in good hands, folks💕

You’ll also see some familiar faces in the store front and bakery - Zoie, our former C+L FOH gem, will be smiling and welcoming you again in the store front and Huong our former Cake Decorator extraordinaire, will be assisting Kate in the Kitchen.

BATCHES classic recipes, made with quality ingredients are the perfect addition to any celebration this November and December at 321 Dundurn St. South.

From scones for breakfast, soup for lunch and chicken pot pie for dinner, Batches has you covered all day long!

She’s carrying on the family legacy. Her grandpa owned a bakery in Milton where her mom and siblings grew up working. Now, her mom and uncle work with her, building Batches Bake Shop into a business that she can leave for future generations.

Saying goodbye is always difficult, however we are leaving with all the amazing memories compiled over 15 years that fueled our entrepreneurial spirit and have given us optimism to find our next adventure!

Thank you to all our fans and supporters throughout the years! You made our small business hearts beat loud and proud. We thank you for inviting us to your celebrations and hope we are a part of all your delicious core memories.

Much love goes out to all our past and most present loafers. Without you all, Cake&Loaf would not have become what it was during her 12 years. Especially the small but mighty team I had a pleasure of working side by side with during and post pandemic.
We have very fond memories from the very first exploratory days starting with our CSB (Community Supported Bakery) out of Josie’s Kitchen, to opening 321 Dundurn St South - Aug 28, 2011, to our second location at the Farmers’ Market and to the final weeks celebrating our Thanksgiving Pie Season this October. We wish you all the best as you move on to your next adventure and are so very proud of each and every one of you💕

A huge shout out to all the small businesses and friends that came along with us on our journey. It was a pleasure to collaborate and create amazing memories at events or through giveaways+contests.
Keep on hitting the pavement and know we remain your biggest fans!

Welp, , it is now feeling very final. I am the last standing Loafer on site. Our final day for all employees was Oct 8 and Josie (co-owner) flew back to Nova Scotia Oct 11. It’s just been me (with the help of some amazing people) sifting through the building, organizing, donating, selling and preparing the space for its next chapter. With the final arrangements for some equipment being sold, it’s feeling more official for me, as the others have moved on with their new lives.
I’m looking forward to seeing where this space goes once we re-list shortly. For now, keep your eyes peeled for some BIG NEWS coming this Nov-Dec. And me, who knows right now, I have some soul searching to do after all is put to close with the property and brand.

Who’s that Pie? Nah nah nah nah nannah na nah nah nah ( I tried real real real hard 😜)
MAPLE BUTTER SALTED TOFFEE+CASHEW PIE
K so this is a new pie and she’s jammed with all the cashews, all the mapley goodness. This ooey gooey center is hovering inside our pure butter pastry shell; is then drizzled with dark chocolate ganache, crowned with all the toffee Skor bits + some Maldon salt sprinkles.
