Today is not a day for celebration. It is a day for reflection.
As immigrants to Canada, learning about the history of residential schools was difficult for us. It is painful to realize that throughout history, in different parts of the world, terrible things have happened when those with power believed that they knew what was right for others.
And history reminds us that this is not only about the past. Today, Ukrainian children are being unlawfully taken from occupied territories and transferred to Russia — another painful reminder of what can happen when those with power decide they have the right to take away a child’s home, language, culture, and identity.
Everything has a price. And the consequences of past decisions can remain for generations.
But there is also something powerful in being able to look honestly at the past, acknowledge what was done, listen to those who suffered, and say: this happened, it was wrong, and it must not be forgotten.
Today is about truth, remembrance, understanding, and reconciliation.

NEW TIRAMISU FLAVOURS

We’ve added three new twists to our Classic Tiramisu!

The base stays classic — coffee & liqueur-soaked ladyfingers with our homemade mascarpone cream — but instead of the traditional cocoa topping, you can now choose:

Lemon — topped with homemade lemon curd
Orange — topped with homemade orange compote
Cherry — topped with tart cherry compote

And, of course, our Classic Tiramisu with cocoa is still available.

Same creamy coffee tiramisu — just with a bright fruity finish.

NEW RECIPE — NOW GLUTEN-FREE & DAIRY-FREE

We’ve updated our meatballs!

Our Beef & Pork Meatballs are now completely gluten-free and dairy-free, with quinoa in our new recipe.

Why quinoa? It’s naturally gluten-free and adds extra nutritional value, including fibre, protein, magnesium, iron, folate and other B vitamins.

Same homemade meatballs, but with an updated recipe: more fibre, nutritious ingredients and no flour, breadcrumbs or dairy.

Last weekend, Cabbage Rolls beat Meatballs 25 to 15!
But there’s a catch — the meatballs simply sold out! We honestly didn’t expect to sell so many in just one weekend. So we’ll definitely have a rematch later, and next time we’ll be better prepared.
Among the cabbage rolls, the most popular were Beef & Pork with Rice.
We also had Beef & Pork with Buckwheat, Turkey with Rice, and Bison with Rice. We made smaller batches of these, and they were the first to sell out!
Next time, we’ll make more of everything and see who really wins — Cabbage Rolls or Meatballs?
