What a great evening and an amazing turnout for our Search & Rescue information session! It was wonderful to see so many people interested in helping make our community safer.

A special thank you to Jim Tubbs for taking time out of his vacation to come and share his knowledge and experience with us. Your dedication is truly appreciated!

We're now looking to build a local Search & Rescue group with approximately 12 members:
🔹 Two search teams of 5 members each
🔹 Two team leaders

Important: A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check are mandatory for all volunteers. You can pick up the necessary forms for the RCMP at the village office.

If you've ever thought about giving back to your community, this is a great opportunity to get involved. No experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn, work as part of a team, and help when needed.

The Bottle Donation Money from the Redemption Centre is in for the month of May 2026 ......$780.10 The Village is working in conjunction with Action Ministries to disperse these funds to individuals or organizations in need. Action Ministries provides with the following:
Summer Camps for Children
The Food Bank
School Supplies for children
School Snacks/Lunches for children
Medical Expenses
Household Emergencies
Help with Power Bills
Winter wood for families/individuals
Amazing Christmas food boxes/Christmas gifts for children
Travel Expenses
& SO MUCH MORE!
If you know of someone in need please reach out to Action Ministries to have them added to their list. Thank You to everyone who donates their bottles and continues to donate!

Culverts on Route 776 will be completed by day end today, Thursday June 4. The pavers will be arriving on the Island Monday, June 8 to cover these areas and complete this part of the job. Please slow down until this time when approaching these sections of the highway.

If you are interested in being a part of a search and rescue team on Grand Manan Island please join Charlotte County Search & Rescue for an information session at the Village Office on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 at 7PM. They will be looking for at least 10 members to create an Island Search and Rescue Team.

The swearing-in ceremony for the Mayor and Council elected for the 2026 term will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Centre Gymnasium.

Members of the public are warmly invited to attend this special occasion as our Mayor and Council members take their oath of office.

Refreshments will be provided following the ceremony.

The Bottle Depot will be CLOSED Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Re-opening on Thursday, May 14th with regular hours for the rest of the week. Village Of Grand Manan - Municipal Transfer Station will be open as usual during these days.
