Experimentation donut day! 🍩
Brought to you by the strawberry 🍓

I bought a proofer a couple weeks ago, and decided to give it a try on a non committal donut day, in case things go sideways. It was a gamechanger...so much so that I may need to upgrade my little 3 donut/fry fryer 🤷🏼‍♀️

So that was great, I also had the idea to incorporate freeze dried strawberry powder into my dough, while I think it would make a difference if I was willing to use as much powder as needed, I don't think i will 🤣

I'm also constantly watching donut pages across all platforms, so decided to try some different methods of portioning, sizing, forming. Let me tell you, I adore the hand formed shapes, they are so rustic and quite charming!

So with all the experimentations noted above, I'm happy to offer

We took the week off last week, and went to Sylvan Lake, Lily and Stella were in a volleyball camp, so we made it a holiday! The weather wasn't beach worthy, Sylvan isn't really visit worthy, the air BNB was a basement so not very awesome. However, because of all of the above, we discovered Rocky Mountain House, and enjoyed it so much, we spent 3 of our 4 days there! If you know how Clint and I travel, we're always 100% on the lookout for amazing baked goods!
Day 1 - started with lattes and piece of Pina Colada pie for breakfast at Copper Creek Cafe & Mercantile
Then our second breakfast on day 1 was two doors down at Mountain House Bakery & Cake Art - where I discovered the greatest donut of my life. I always choose chocolate long John when it's available...and it was everything. The PERFECT chalky chocolate icing, I must figure that recipe out!!!

Day 2 sweets was a dud...went to Donut Mill in Red Deer.. 🫣 I have learned...only to have cake donuts there.

Day 3 sweets...we ventured to Caroline - home of Kurt Browning! After researching their little cafe, we chose to go on Wednesday for their Cinnamon buns...worth it! * Also to note we did a 10 km walk around the most perfect little lake - Crimson Lake. If I was a camper, i'd camp here.

Day 4 sweets...back to Rocky for the donuts!! However we were a little late in the day so no Long Johns 😭 but the ring donut did the trick!

Anyway all this has got me wanting the weather to turn and to get back in the donut grind!!

Got a day needing donuts?! I mean everyday needs donuts, but do you have a staff meeting, a baby shower, sports tournament?! Shoot me a message, let's figure a day out!

Well this is the only donut day I have planned this month, so grab now before they're gone!

The fries went over well last time, so I tried again, improving the size/ shape...I still don't have appropriate dip containers, so these will have to do for now!
