For business purposes, this is a joke 🤪
First and foremost,
This is mostly a joke… but behind every joke there *is* some truth behind it…🙃
Let’s lay it out shall we? And let me know if you agree/disagree 🤔
1. No homebaker (or any business in general) wants to be asked if they can get a discount. It’s tough already out there and we really want you to have your cake and eat it too. But not because we want to make a sale, we just want you to enjoy a custom cake! 🥹🍰
2. Custom cakes, small-batch baked goods etc. they’re a luxury. It’s not a basic need. It’s something you order to treat yourself, your loved ones and to celebrate life for ANY milestone big and small. But bottom line is, we’re not selling cake for you to survive. So please don’t treat it as such when the price comes to you and you’re like whaaaaa 😱
3. Be proud when you order! We want to customize the cake for you so it’s personal to you and you only! I genuinely mean this! But when it comes with “looking for something cheap”… I get sad and confused. Since when is something specifically tailored for you going to be cheap. But also… coining it as “cheap”, doesn’t sound like a win-win situation here 🥵
4. Ok… controversial but the homebakers will understand… usually the ones looking for a deal are the ones that require the most time and energy. This in turn actually makes the profit margin of the cake much much lower if you include time spent corresponding. 😢
5. “Affordable” is subjective. And I’m happy to see what I can do, always!!! But when it comes a point I realize the client wont be happy, it’s a no-win zone.
Cake… it’s art. It’s a treat. It’s a way to enrich your life. I’m here for it (no bias here 😉) and really I just want to share my thoughts in a way to help inform. Maybe this might mean providing alternative suggestions when ordering? Hmmmm an idea for the next reel 💡 🫡
