Sara has been a friend from the very moment I met her, which made being entrusted with such an important part of their wedding day incredibly special.

Creating this cake for Sara and Steven was truly both an honour and a privilege.

60… Revisited. Lol 🤎

Because apparently turning 60 once simply wasn’t enough for Ches. 😂 So here we are, celebrating 60 for the third year in a row, and this time, his precious Rudy had to be part of the story.

This one of a kind novelty cake was created specifically for Ches, who gave me complete creative freedom to simply create. Every detail was handcrafted by me, including my sweet little interpretation of Rudy, perhaps not quite as handsome as the real thing, but made with plenty of love. 🐾

Happy Birthday, Ches. Thank you for trusting me with your celebration and allowing me to turn a little humour, a beautiful bond with Rudy, and a milestone revisited into edible art.

The cake pictured is my original, handcrafted work. The background has been AI-enhanced simply to create the setting and allow the cake to shine.

Some cakes are simply made, and some cakes are felt.

Sara & Steven gave me something incredibly special, their trust. No colour palette, no rigid design, no list of instructions. Just complete creative freedom and one beautiful request: create something that represents us.

And from there, I created from my heart. 🥹

Every tier, every flower, every little detail was thoughtfully chosen to tell a piece of their story. Two beautiful people, two beautiful cultures, two lives becoming one.

Standing back and seeing it all come together on their wedding day, I was genuinely in awe. The day was beautiful. The couple was beautiful. And this cake, Lord knows I was PROUD of this one!

Sara & Steven, thank you for trusting my hands and my creativity with such an important part of your day. It was truly an honour to create this for you.

May the beauty of your wedding day be only the beginning of an even more beautiful marriage.

She gave me creative freedom… so I took her inspiration up 10 notches

Juanita came to me with an inspiration photo, a colour palette, and one beautiful sentence every cake artist loves to hear:
“I trust you. You have creative freedom.”
Wellllll… she probably should’ve known what she was getting herself into. 😂
I took that inspiration and decided to turn it up about 10 notches.
But the design wasn't the only adventure. Juanita had one non negotiable: COCONUT. 🥥
And then she casually mentioned hibiscus or pistachio, neither of which was on my menu.
Challenge accepted. 😏
So I created something for her:
🌺 A rich, beautifully balanced Sorrel/Hibiscus Cake
🥥 Paired with an indulgent Coconut Filling
🍫 All encased in a silky, velvety Semi-Sweet Chocolate Ganache
And BABY... the combination WORKED. 🤌🏾
What started as a custom request may have just earned itself a permanent place on the Charlene's House of Cakes menu.
And the design? I wanted Juanita's 50th to feel like more than a birthday cake. I wanted elegance, movement, drama, texture and luxury, something worthy of celebrating fifty beautiful years.
Thank you, Juanita, for trusting my hands and allowing me to create without limits. ❤️
