While this page has been quiet, the kitchen has not! Let’s get caught up here now that the kids are back to school!
This is the first wedding cake I’ve had the pleasure of making for a niece/nephew! The lovely couple gave me complete creative freedom, which I love! This red velvet & cream cheese frosting 6 layer, 2 tier cake came together over 3 days & traveled almost 400km before being assembled in a hotel room next to the wedding venue. The feedback from the bride’s mom “You nailed it! You knew what she wanted more than she did!” It’s such an honor to have my cakes be a part of your special memories, no matter the occasion! Life deserves more celebrations! As my bakery motto says ~life is short, make it sweet~ (borrowed from Old Dominion who I also saw in concert this summer with another sweet niece!).

DIY CHRISTMAS EVE SANTA COOKIE KITS now available for order! Included are 9 sugar cookies made with only the best ingredients, 3 colors of icing, 3 sprinkle varieties, a glass Santa’s milk bottle & magic reindeer food. $45.
DIY COOKIE DECORATING KITS with 12 cookies (without the milk bottle or reindeer food) available for $38.
MAGIC REINDEER FOOD $5 each.

Christmas baking has started!! Classic sugar cookies are always a hit! Proving popular again this season are the DIY kits. You get the fun of decorating & eating without the messy kitchen! (Disclaimer: Some mess may occur with decorating, especially with little people!)

The last of 40 “Take & Make Cookie Boxes” has been picked up! Still a bit shocked (& exhausted!) by how popular these were! Thank you to my community, friends & family for your support of my little bakery. In the last 7 days I’ve baked nearly 600 cookies, brownies & made a dessert charcuterie for the teacher appreciation dinner at my son’s school. Up next…a couple cakes & goodies for this weekends family celebrations! Happy Easter everyone ✝️ 🐣🐰🍫🌷

Includes 12 sugar cookies, 4 colors of royal icing & 3 varieties of sprinkles. Can be made dairy-free or vegan upon request. Pick up April 5-7 in Fireside. 50% deposit required to secure order. $35.

Long before Make It Sweet, I’ve been making cakes for family & friends. For many years I’d ask my niece & nephew what they wanted for their birthday cake & whatever they dreamed up, I made! Now I do the same for my boys. Every cake or sweet treat I make is baked with the same love, quality ingredients & attention to detail as if I were making it for my family to enjoy! 💗🍰

Welcome to Make It Sweet! Baking & creating sweet treats has been a longtime hobby of mine. I’ve recently stepped away from my nursing career of almost 20 years & relocated to the small town of Cochrane, AB (outside of Calgary) where I’m able to be present with my young sons everyday. Mom life makes for some long days…so naturally I’m turning to baking as my creative outlet!
After some persuasion from friends, neighbors & family, I’m taking the plunge & launching my home bakery! I focus on quality ingredients, food safety, attention to detail & making every item both beautiful & delicious! As they say, “we eat first with our eyes”! Think birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, baby showers, smash cakes, company events, family gatherings, or just because it’s Tuesday! Cupcakes, cakes (buttercream & fondant), cake pops, cookies (from chocolate chip to decorative sugar cookies), dessert charcuterie boards & more! Sourdough also made its way into my baking repertoire in 2020! If you have a baking need, I’d love to make your dream a reality!
