Well Happy Saturday Everyone. It's been two weeks and we have now reached the halfway mark inmy loved ones cancer treatments, A combination of Chemotherapy(1 day per week) and Radiaiton Therapy 5 days per week x 4 weeks. She is My hero. She has met this head on, not only once but now 3 times in the past 5 years. Each time something different.
This is not an easy road for the youngest of patients but as we all know that we just don't bounce back quite as quick as we reach the golden years or anytime past 30 years of age fr that matterππ―. Sitiing in that Chemotherapy clinic or Radiation Clinic waiting rooms is a total eye opener.
Cancer knows no age restrictions , gender or race , that's a given and can strike anyone, I mean absolutely anyone.
There are so many compassionate souls that work in the field of the Cancer disease. All have been so kind and compassionate. Not enough words of gratitude for you all. One of the biggest stress reducer's is our Cancer Society.
Amongst one of the facilities available to Cancer patients is the Cancer Society's Vancouver Island Lodge, located just across from the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Patients that live out of town can stay on their own for free for the duration of their treatments and a Support Person for a small nominal daily fee. Comfy rooms and beds, quiet calm atmosphere as well. Everyone here has a commonality and a story to tell. If the lodge is full, no problem, they can usually find a room at a Victoria Hotel or Motel that isnt to far of a drive from the Clinic.
Next is our very own "Cowichan Valley Hospice Society." Again, not enough folks understand the depth of which they stand for. Some think they are support only for folks at the end of life, they are so there to give to you as you live as well. From my own personal experience with our local Hospice Society. More wonderful things need to be shared about them.
