A bittersweet goodbye 🤍🍪
This is a post I’ve started writing more times than I can count.
When I announced that M’s Sweets Bakery would be taking a break for July and August, I fully intended to reopen in September. But after an unexpectedly difficult summer, a flooded new home, a delayed move and a lot of time to reflect, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to officially close M’s Sweets Bakery.
When I started this little bakery in September 2018, I was a single mom with two very young children who simply needed a way to help pay the bills. I never imagined what it would become.
What started out of necessity quickly became a passion. I fell in love with the art, the creativity and getting to play a tiny part in your birthdays, weddings, babies, graduations, holidays and so many special moments.
But the greatest part of these almost eight years has been you.
So many of you stopped feeling like customers a long time ago. You became friends. You watched my boys grow up, supported me through COVID and all the craziness that came with it, recommended me to friends, came back year after year and trusted me with your family’s celebrations.
This decision isn’t because I’ve stopped loving what I do. I still do. 🤍 I’m simply entering a different season of life.
My boys are growing up far faster than I’d like, and right now my family needs more of me. There will always be another cookie to decorate and another late night I could spend working — but I don’t get another chance at these years with them.
Maybe M’s Sweets will find its way back to me someday. I’ll never say never.
But for now, it’s time to put away the piping bags and be Mom a little more. 🤍
To every person who ordered, shared, recommended, encouraged and supported me over these last eight years — thank you.
You turned something I started because I needed it into something I truly loved.
Thank you for this sweet chapter. 🤍🍪
On to the next one.
