*** SOURDOUGH PASTA NOW AVAILABLE ***

Breaking News: We Actually Listened to You!

Actually, we do it all the time and you should not be surprised by now.

Since a fair number of you have zero chill and asked us at the counter every single day, and others aggressively clicked "YES" on our social media poll like your lives depended on it... we did a thing.

We brought in .

⭐ They are family-owned!
⭐ They are a BC company!
⭐ They made a great product!

Honestly, even if you hadn’t voted for it, Brad and I were going to buy it just to see if we could survive exclusively on fermented wheat. (Spoiler: So far, so good).

The Deets:
➡️ What is it? Sourdough pasta. It’s pasta, but better, because it’s sourdough. Keep up.
➡️ What kinds? Spaghetti, Linguini, Rotini & Elbow Mac...for now! If it sells well we can bring in more variety.
➡️ Why should you care? Because you literally told us to buy it. Also, it’s delicious.

So, please, come get some before Brad, and I eat the entire inventory and have to explain to the accountant why our "business expenses" consist entirely of rotini and butter.

Stop asking if we have it. We have it. See you at the counter.

*** MARKET ANNOUNCEMENT ***

Big news, everybody.

We’ve decided that being open four days a week at the bakery isn’t enough of a logistical nightmare, so we’re hitting two markets again this summer.

We are officially back at BOTH the Campbell River Farmers market & Arts Faire and the Quadra Island Farmers Market & Bazaar.

Try to contain your excitement; it makes us nervous.

The "Where and When" (since you’ll ask anyway):
👉 Campbell River Farmer's Market: We’re showing up for opening day on May 10th. Yes, that’s soon. Yes, we are already tired.
👉 Quadra Island Market: We’re ghosting you until June. We need a minute to get organized and make sure Bryan—the "new guy" at the bakery—is comfortable working solo, preparing market products.
👉 The Bakery: Our brick-and-mortar is STILL OPEN Thurs–Sun, 9 am–5 pm.
👉 Yes, Both: We are open at the shop AND the market at the same time. Why? Because some of you find the market "too peopley" and prefer the air conditioning of the bakery. We get it.

The Menu Situation:
⭐ At the Shop: Nothing is changing. If you liked it last week, it’s still there.
⭐ At the Markets: Each market will mirror the menu at the bakery (with surprises sometimes).

See you on opening day (May 10th), but hopefully at the shop before then.

Or just leave us a nice comment so we feel better about our life choices. HAHAHA!

A Tribute to Leslie

I have something very personal and close to my heart that I want to share with you all.

Recently, I lost a dear friend, Leslie, who was a constant source of light and encouragement in my life over the past 4 years.

Leslie was my neighbour at the condo, and she was the very first person to offer me a smile when I moved in all by myself.

That simple kindness meant the world to me.

She never missed a chance to say hello, always had a compliment ready for my outfits (especially my hats), and she became such a wonderful friend to Cleo, too.

When Brad moved in, they became fast friends too, and the three of us shared so many good conversations.

Brad and I helped her out whenever we could, and she truly did the same for us. She watched Cleo quite often when we first opened the bakery and had no real schedule in place for proper sleep/dog care—she was there for us when we needed it most.

To honor her memory and the special bond we shared, I am making a permanent change to the bakery.

I’ve renamed our chocolate chip cookie—Leslie's favorite—from "Chip" to Leslie.

I contacted the artist who designed all of our bakery cartoons, and she created this likeness of Leslie that will now appear on all of our packaging stickers and marketing for the cookies.

This way, Leslie lives on through the treat she loved most.

It will help me remember her daily—the constant encouragement she gave and how much she truly cared.

Most importantly, I want her grandson to always be able to come here and get the cookies his Grandma loved to give him. She ALWAYS made sure she had cookies every time she saw him.

I looked in her customer profile the other day and her first visit was our opening day, and her last was almost two years to the day. 🥺

Leslie, I miss you every day. And I am grateful I get to keep your spirit alive, one cookie at a time. ❤️

*** BREAKING NEWS: PRESTON IS BACK ***

Stop the presses. Call your mother. The Sourdough Whisperer is finally moving back into its nutty era.

I am “re-launching” Preston the Peanut Butter Cookie (loaded with Reese’s PB chips).

The OG condo crowd knows I've been making these since before we opened the brick and mortar, and it was just me in the kitchen.

"Why hasn’t it been on the menu?" you ask with that look of judgment we’ve come to love. LOL!

Well, some people have serious allergies, and since we generally prefer our customers to stay breathing while inside the shop, we hit pause.

But guess what? It's time to bring them back! I miss making them, and Brad misses eating them.

The Details

⭐ What it is: A cookie. With peanut butter. And more peanut butter.
⭐ Is it new? No. It’s a comeback. Like a boy band, but actually good.
⭐ Is it sourdough? Read the sign on the door. (Yes, obviously).
⭐ Is it a THICK cookie too? Yes! It is just as thick as our chocolate chip cookies!
🥜 Allergy Warning: It contains peanuts, duh.

The "Don't Sue Us" Protocol:

➡️ The Dedicated Mixer: We have a mixer specifically for cookies. It has one job. It’s basically a specialist.
➡️ The Deep Clean: That mixer is washed and sanitized after every single batch like it’s prepping for open-heart surgery.
➡️ The Reality Check: We are no longer a completely nut-free facility. Cross-contamination is a thing that exists, no matter how careful we are. If your allergy is the "I can't even look at it" kind, please stick to the sourdough.

We’ve spent two years listening to some of you beg for these, and now that they're back!! See you at the counter!!

*** QUARTERLY BRAG POST ***

Well, look at us being all "charitable" and "organized." It’s almost like we care. LOL! Obviously we care a lot. 🥰

Q1 of 2026 is wrapped, and because we’re trying to get others on the bragging about giving train, here’s our Quarterly Brag Post.

I did some math (it hurt), and the numbers are actually pretty impressive—mostly because of you lot.

⭐ The Q1 "We’re Great" Stats ⭐

😮 $2,454 in bread sent to local non-profits.
🎉 $350 in cash/gift cards to local non-profits.
🥰 $983.79 in loyalty discounts.
⭐ $1,091 in staff treats to prevent a mutiny.
☺️ $135 in "Just Because" freebies. You're welcome.

❤️ The Big One ❤️

165 LOAVES (not included in the above numbers)

Our first Annual Bread Drive was… honestly, a problem. A good one.

You guys donated 165 loaves to the Campbell River Food Bank !!

You were so aggressively generous that we had to split the bake in two just so the Food Bank didn't drown in sourdough. Seriously though....a MASSIVE thank you to our customers. We just bake the stuff; you’re the ones who allow us to keep doing good by choosing to support our little bakery. You're the ones keeping the lights on - and you're the ones who went above and beyond to make our first bread drive so successful.

You’re all legends...but don't let it go to your heads - or do!

Actually, DO, you deserve it! Walk taller today, you did a really good thing.

Back to the flour.

Stay gold, sourdough lovers. 🍞

🐣 EASTER WEEKEND HOURS 🐣

Breaking news: Local bakers discovered to be actual human beings who require sleep and sunlight. We know, we’re shocked too. 🤣🤣🤣

To get some extra sleep, and put our feet up, the bakery will be CLOSED on Thursday, April 2nd, and Friday, April 3rd.

💡 The Obvious FAQS 💡
- Are you open? No. See above.
- But I want bread. We suggest planning ahead! Pre-orders are accepted (in-store or over the phone, must be pre-paid).
- What’s the menu? It’s the same menu. Consistency is key.
- Will there be extras? Some. Mini Egg Cookies for sure, MAYBE some other stuff. It will be a surprise!

🚫 The Hot Cross Bun Situation 🚫
No, we aren't making Hot Cross Buns.

Why? Because I honestly don't like making them.

Unless one of you is hiding a team of highly skilled, unpaid elves in your basement that you’d like to donate to the shop, I simply do not have the time to add more items to the menu (while also organizing and managing the pre-orders, etc).

Thanks in advance for understanding!

(I did add these closed dates to the Google Business Listing, but am not putting them on the website because it is just too much work for two days!)

🍞🍞🍞 FIRST ANNUAL BREAD DRIVE 🍞🍞🍞

Brad came up with a cool concept, and I loved it.

So I gave it a name and decided it should be a yearly tradition.

We’re hosting our FIRST ANNUAL BREAD DRIVE for the Campbell River Food Bank from March 19th to March 29th, and we’ve made it so easy to participate that you basically have no excuse not to.

It’s like a regular food drive, but instead of dusting off old cans from that back of your cupboard and bringing them to us - we bake bread at the end. (So it's as fresh as can be!)

Here is how you can help us feed the community without getting flour on your own floor...

💲 The Cost: $5 per loaf. That covers the ingredients, our labor, the hydro, and the emotional support our starter requires to perform, LOL.
👍 How to Donate: You can physically walk into the shop and see us, or just DM us for e-transfer info if you’re currently cozy on the couch.

The Game Plan

⭐ March 19 – 29: You donate. We keep a very organized list.
⭐ March 30: We spend the day prepping and proofing.
⭐ March 31: We bake them fresh and deliver them to Campbell River Food Bank.

It’s a simple way to do a lot of good. Plus, $5 is basically the price of a fancy coffee, and this lasts much longer (and tastes better with butter).

We can't wait to start bugging you all for donations on the 19th - LOL.

You CAN donate early if you'd like - we just wanted to give the announcement a few days to make rounds before we actually start asking everyone at the till.

As always, you're all amazing, and we appreciate each and every single one of you.
