A Tribute to Leslie
I have something very personal and close to my heart that I want to share with you all.
Recently, I lost a dear friend, Leslie, who was a constant source of light and encouragement in my life over the past 4 years.
Leslie was my neighbour at the condo, and she was the very first person to offer me a smile when I moved in all by myself.
That simple kindness meant the world to me.
She never missed a chance to say hello, always had a compliment ready for my outfits (especially my hats), and she became such a wonderful friend to Cleo, too.
When Brad moved in, they became fast friends too, and the three of us shared so many good conversations.
Brad and I helped her out whenever we could, and she truly did the same for us. She watched Cleo quite often when we first opened the bakery and had no real schedule in place for proper sleep/dog care—she was there for us when we needed it most.
To honor her memory and the special bond we shared, I am making a permanent change to the bakery.
I’ve renamed our chocolate chip cookie—Leslie's favorite—from "Chip" to Leslie.
I contacted the artist who designed all of our bakery cartoons, and she created this likeness of Leslie that will now appear on all of our packaging stickers and marketing for the cookies.
This way, Leslie lives on through the treat she loved most.
It will help me remember her daily—the constant encouragement she gave and how much she truly cared.
Most importantly, I want her grandson to always be able to come here and get the cookies his Grandma loved to give him. She ALWAYS made sure she had cookies every time she saw him.
I looked in her customer profile the other day and her first visit was our opening day, and her last was almost two years to the day. 🥺
Leslie, I miss you every day. And I am grateful I get to keep your spirit alive, one cookie at a time. ❤️
