My sister Julie Van Rosendaal will be at cōchu Saturday, May 9, from 1 - 3 pm, signing her cookbooks. We’ll have her new cookbook Kathie the Mail Girl’s Mother’s Cookies, along with a selection of her other titles. You’re welcome to bring your own copies, too.

This new cookbook is a collection of recipes from our grandmother Madelon’s treasured recipe box. I still think about marmalade on toast at her table, watching the freighters on the water.

I’ve had it in my mind to create a marmalade bar, loaded with orange, lemon and ginger, balanced with a rich dark chocolate. Bright, bitter, and just enough sweetness.

The first batch will be available tomorrow.

Come visit us at tonight’s special screening of Wonka at Movie on The Rise, sample some sweet treats, grab some snacks for the movie and enter to win a tour of our urban chocolate factory for 4 people.

We can’t believe it’s been 2 years since we opened the doors to our East Village store! We’ll be celebrating our birthday & Canada Day all weekend and will be open 10am to 6pm Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
