the borough market strawberry slander? we’re not here for it. 😭🍓

the freshest, juiciest strawberries covered in silky, warm belgian milk chocolate? a 10/10 combination, no notes.

travelling gives us so much inspiration, and this one had been on our bucket list for YEARS. after watching what felt like the entire internet try the iconic chocolate-covered strawberries from turnips at london’s borough market, we knew we had to experience them for ourselves. 🇬🇧

fun fact: turnips was actually the inspiration behind our signature belgian chocolate strawberry cups at made by akb! 💡

we’ve always loved taking little pieces of inspiration from our travels and bringing them back to calgary, adding our own touch along the way. after years of seeing these strawberries all over our feeds, getting to try the very thing that inspired one of our own bestsellers was a full-circle moment.

and another little fun fact: our strawberry cups are also meant to be enjoyed right away! we pour warm belgian chocolate directly over fresh strawberries, giving you that perfect contrast of juicy, chilled fruit and silky, melted chocolate.

sometimes the simplest combinations really are the best. and this one? worth every bit of the hype. 😋

“how many matchas can you consume in a day?” drake, we fear the limit does not exist. 🍵😭

at this point, matcha is less of a drink and more of a personality trait. and judging by how many of you keep coming back for it, we know we’re not alone.

a little matcha update from us: we’re officially working on upgrading our matcha program by sourcing our matcha directly from japan! 🇯🇵

while the matcha you’ve all come to know and love is a more affordable option, we believe that when you’re paying a premium for matcha, you deserve the good stuff. we’ve been exploring ways to elevate the quality of our offerings, and this is one change we’re particularly excited about.

with this transition taking effect next season, our prices will reflect the upgrade in quality but our commitment to keeping our offerings fairly priced and accessible remains the same. after all, good matcha should be worth every sip (and every dollar). 💵

in the meantime, our current matcha lineup isn’t going anywhere:

however, even the good things come with a season.

as strawberry season gradually comes to an end, we wanted to give you a little heads-up about some upcoming changes to one of our most requested offerings.

sourcing fresh, high-quality strawberries at a reasonable cost becomes increasingly challenging during the colder months. and while demand certainly isn’t the issue, maintaining the quality and value of our products will always take priority.

with that in mind, our belgian & dubai strawberry cups will be taking a seasonal break from mid-november through january. 🗓️

but don’t mistake a seasonal pause for a permanent goodbye!

on days when we’re able to source strawberries that meet our standards, we may bring back a limited quantity for the day.

we’re looking for someone dependable, hardworking, detail-oriented and confident working in a fast-paced café environment. this is a hands-on role for someone who can move with purpose, stay organized during busy rushes, multitask efficiently and maintain a positive attitude throughout their shift. 🤝🏼

we’re looking for someone who takes initiative, learns quickly, communicates well and understands the importance of consistency, cleanliness and attention to detail. you should be comfortable helping across different areas of the shop, from preparing drinks and assisting customers to restocking, cleaning and supporting the team wherever needed. 🏃🏽‍♀️

most importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with the akb team long term. this isn’t intended to be a temporary or short-term position. we value team members who take pride in their work, care about the customer experience and genuinely want to contribute to the success of the business. we’re looking for someone who wants to become a reliable part of our team, learn our standards and grow alongside us. 🫂

availability requirement: applicants must have open availability between 10:00 am–8:30 pm, 7 days a week. schedules will vary depending on the needs of the business, with approximately 16–35 hours per week, give or take. 🗓️

we’re being selective with this position and are looking for someone who genuinely feels they would thrive in a busy, team-oriented environment, can meet the availability requirements above and is looking for a longer-term opportunity. 🤍
