Another grey weekend - so far we have baked, had breakfast, played baseball and washed dishes. I have my best helper(helper might be a stretchšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚) with me this weekend and we are busy. The good news is we get to have a nap lateršŸ˜‰

I didnā€™t plant a garden this year but I did throw some squishy cherry/grape tomatoes on the lawn in the spring for the birds or other critters to consume. My husband relocated some of the soil to a new flower bed and tomato plants grew. Delicious and sweet.

My standard egg tarts- made from a recipe handed down through generations. A family favourite and delicious. Do not confuse it with a butter tart or anything called an egg tart that is a sugary gooey mess. Today I am experimenting with my pastry. My go-to no fail pastry is the recipe from the legion cookbook. Probably a lot of people use this. Today I swapped out the margarine for browned butter. Is it better? Is it even a noticeable difference? In my opinion, yes. Successful experiment - now to brown more butter šŸ˜

The potential of the front one shows in the layers but the fluff never happened. They are inedible,flat little bricks. The one in the back - fluffy and light.
One ingredient can make all the difference.

People have different ideas on what makes a cookie look good - they roll, make little dents or break the dough into small pieces then lightly smoosh them together. In the end mine came out very similar looking after they baked. Can you even tell the method was different? In the end it matters most how they taste. And all three were delicious. šŸ˜‰
