Getting set to detonate this year's Mandrake Abbey Art & Music Festival this Saturday in Bridge Lake BC!!!

THE BOMBSHELLS

The Bombshells were an all female punk band formed in 1990 by founding band member Siobhan Duvall. The original line up with their Ramones/blondie sound, played a few notable shows around Vancouver including opening up for Tad and Nirvana.

The band soon after saw itself undergoing a
line up change and the musical direction shifted to a more heavier punk/grunge seattle sound after lead vocalist Mellow Friesen joined the group at the end of 1990/91.

The group got to work writing all new material and started making a name for themselves around town opening up such bands as Babes in Toyland and Screaming trees. In 1992 Michelle Duff joined the band on bass bringing with her a slightly funkier style which added beautifully to the diversity of the music. At this time they set their sights south of the boarder and joined Biff Naked on tour playing shows with the likes of Sublime and Love on Ice.

By 1993 they were playing big out door festivals including Highwood Fest sharing the stage with DRI, Mudhoney and Monster voodoo machine.

In 1994 the girls parted ways to explore other musical projects but reunited briefly in 2010-2011 after being ask to do a 90s punk reunion show.

At the end of 2025, they reunited once more after Mellow reached out to see if they would like to do a one off performance of Bowie covers at the Annual Bowie Ball Cancer fundraiser. The show was a huge success and the reunion found them feeling nostalgic and decided to officially reform with newest faboulous member Nadja Feutlinke on drums.

This years Abbey fest will be their first performance of the original set in Over 15 years and they couldn't be more excited!!

***UPDATE WE FOUND FOOD!!***

Hey everyone!! Our food vendor for the Mandrake Abbey Art & Music Festival had to drop out due to the fire situation in vernon/Kelowna area, and I am wondering if any of you are available for this Saturday, August 8/9 in Bridge Lake BC? There is no fee to be a food vendor, and there are about 200 attendees.

We would love to have someone doing food during the main event on the 8th, and someone for the 9th, for a Sunday morning breakfast.

Finally the stage at this year's Mandrake Abbey Art & Music Festival has been set!!

This project has been brewing since last year, and it is so rewarding to see it up and completed!

We want to thank Linsee and her amazing girls for coming to help put this art installation together.

Also want to shout out to Roadkill Riley Tattoos for all his skull curing tips and tricks.

Can't wait to see you all this Saturday in Bridge Lake for a night of epic music, art, and much more!!

This summer we all felt the deep waves with the news of our dear friend Justis Klatt leaving us for the sweet hereafter.

We remember first meeting Jub when he arrived on the scene back in the days of Little Big House, and love that he went on to create so much music and to curate the many glorious years of SHRED THE LOOPS.

Jubstis Klatt was the first person to christen the stage here at the Abbey and we wanted to honour him by memorializing his energy here forever in music.

Our hearts go out to all those affected by the ongoing wildfires throughout the province. We hope everyone can stay safe during this crisis, and thank all those who have opened up their doors to people in need.

We know many of you have had concerns over the safety of this year's fest, but as of this date there are currently no active wildfires within a dangerous distance of the Abbey. We are committed to the safety of our guests and artists. If there is any present danger we will cancel the event for this year, but as of now THE SHOW MUST GO ON.

We hope to see you all at this years Mandrake Abbey Art & Music Festival!!

minxrocknroll is coming in hot from the deserty plains of Kamloops BC to blast our eardrums with some classic rock n' roll during this year's Mandrake Abbey Art & Music Festival on August 8th in Bridge Lake BC.

This epic 5 piece band, consisting of Stella- vocals, Jesse - vocals & guitar, Natalie - bass, Kevin - guitars, and Jordan - drums released their first album in 2018 and have been turning out sick demos and albums ever since.
