Our Story
Eleos is more than a bakery—it's a tribute to our family's history, heritage, and the recipes that have brought four generations together.
Our name is inspired by Eleohorion, the small village in Peloponnese Greece where our Yiayia was born and raised. After marrying our Papouli in 1956, they moved to Athens, where they opened a small neighborhood corner shop. There, they served their community with groceries, freshly baked goods, and the warm hospitality that became the foundation of our family's legacy.
Years later, they immigrated to Canada, bringing with them not only cherished family recipes but also the values of hard work, perseverance, and a passion for feeding others. Those traditions continue to inspire everything we create today.
At Eleos, our desserts are prepared using family recipes, premium ingredients, and the same love and care that once filled the ovens of our family's little shop in Athens. From flaky baklava and creamy galaktoboureko to soft tsoureki and our signature custard-filled pastries, every dessert honors the generations before us.
The name Eleos (Eλεος) also means mercy, compassion, and kindness in Greek—values that are at the heart of everything we do. We believe food is more than something to eat; it's a way to bring people together, celebrate life's special moments, and create lasting memories around the table.
What began decades ago in a small shop Athens, crossed an ocean to Canada and continues on with their grandchilren.
