The inspiration for Gourmet Sweets began as a teenage passion for a young girl born and raised in Zadar, a small town in Croatia, by the Adriatic Sea. Senka Babac expressed her creativity and talents in the kitchen, using varied ingredients and priding herself as well as family and friends, with baked products that boasted homemade goodness. Today, Senka continues to embrace this lifelong passion,
fine tuning it to include only gluten free ingredients. She recognizes that varied food sensitivities are common and is happy to cater to these differences, also offering products that include nut-free, egg-free, or lactose-free ingredients. With a “sweet tooth” of her own, she believes that no one should be exempt from enjoying fabulous breads, pastries, pastas and desserts, without consequence. She also uses her own blend of low-glycemic sugars (e.g., coconut, maple, raw honey) to achieve a natural sweetness.
