I’ve known you since Grade 1, and as teenagers we shared our moms’ home-cooked lunches during school . Years later as adults, we bonded over our love for baking and cake decorating.

We checked out Brisket Daddy in Ajax and it absolutely delivered. We tried the brisket sandwich, pork belly sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, and the cornbread — and every bite was unreal. As you can tell one of us couldn’t wait till the picture was taken 🙂The meat was incredibly succulent and full of flavour, and the buns and cornbread were moist and fluffy.

If you’re a BBQ lover, this is a must-try. So good to see amazing local businesses bringing this quality to the community. We’ll definitely be back for more!

Birthday celebrations continue. A two-flavored cake wrapped in silky Swiss meringue buttercream — delicate vanilla paired with dulce de leche buttercream for the birthday boy and the fellow vanilla lovers, and decadent chocolate with mocha buttercream for the chocoholics. Happy Birthday, Mitchell!

Mean Girls- Schedule Update for Aanya’s Performance

Due to unforeseen circumstances, there has been a slight change to Aanya’s schedule. Aanya will not be performing on Thursday, June 19th, as a result of a recent last-minute show cancellation.

After baking my first loaf, I stored my starter in the fridge since we don’t usually eat much bread as a family. But the kids enjoyed it so much, they asked if I could make it more often—so I started feeding it again. It took a bit longer than I expected to revive, but , your tips were a big help!

I think the second loaf turned out even better than the first. Aanya loves hers with tomato, basil, and mozzarella, finished with a drizzle of balsamic reduction. Laana prefers it simple, just warm with salted butter. As for me… I’m doing my best not to eat it all!

We decided to switch things up this Easter—hot cross buns aren’t exactly a favorite in our house, so croissants it was!
It’s not my first time making them, but this round came with a twist. I accidentally used traditional yeast in one batch (instead of the rapid yeast the recipe called for), and surprisingly… it turned out even better! The rapid yeast batch poofed into little monsters, the taste was not compromised thankfully, and the taste testers gave them a big thumbs up.
Chocolate and almond croissants also made an appearance—those were from the “wrong yeast” batch—and the almond ones were the clear crowd favorite.
There’s still room for improvement, of course… but knowing just how much butter goes into these, I think I’ll be taking a little break before the next round!
