This year is a little different. First year that I will not have a Valentine’s treat box available. As millions all over the world celebrate hearts day, our hearts are currently broken into a million pieces with the passing of our beloved cousin Meldy and her sweet 5-month old daughter Morgyn just 2 weeks ago.
I want to dedicate this day to both of them. My cousin has always been so supportive of my business. We’ve grown close this past year as she became a mother to Morgyn. She was so excited to be a mom! Every family function where I would bring in treats, she was always excited to see which treat I brought in that day. She loved anything ube. When someone would ask who made it, she would say “Unice made that! She has a baking business.”
It’s hard to believe that we have to live with the fact that we’re not going to see them again. Our hearts are forever torn. Never in a million years I would have thought that this senseless tragedy would happen to someone from our family. We are still very much in shock.
As you know, baking is my love language and my therapy. When I’m happy, I bake, when I’m sad, I bake, and now I’m mourning, I just want to bake. Maybe it’s my way to process my emotions, I don’t know. All I know is I just wanted to do something to honour them.
So in honour of their memory, I am giving away free treats today and tomorrow. No strings attached. My goal is to give away 36 boxes for the 36 yrs my cousin spent here on earth.
18 today and 18 tomorrow.
Porch pick up in Ajax, I will have a variety of treats available. Please feel free to share them with those you love. If you don’t have my address, pls pm me. I am not asking for anything in return, but your prayers. I believe in the power of prayer.
Please pray for their souls, please pray for forgiveness and healing for our family, especially my aunt and my cousins, and please pray for not only the countless others who have been victims of domestic violence but also those who have been victims of serious mental disorders.
Hoping that these treats will brighten someone’s day, despite this unimaginable circumstance.
