A heads up to all you fantastic market bakers out there…
Bear with me, this is a long one from me ❤️
About 3 months ago I received a “caller I’d unknown” phone call complaining that a pie he had purchased had a hair in it and he wanted his money back.
I was mortified - we are SO careful 🙁
This man named “Dan” wanted his money back for all the 8 pies he’d bought but couldn’t come back to the shop because he’d bought them while working in the area and lived out of the area.
I know, red flags!! But I put it down to experience, paid him back and increased my vigilance, and put it behind me.
I woke up to 3 missed calls this morning from an “id unknown” caller who then called again 10 minutes ago.
He complained about a pie he had purchased from me at market. He couldn’t name the market, or when he had bought it.
When pushed he told me his name was “Dan” and that the pie may have been “blueberry or something”.
Here’s the thing - I don’t sell fruit pies!!! I sell meat pies!!!!
When I told him this, he hung up.
Be careful out there - I know you all work so hard, take pride in all the delicious product you make - don’t let these scammers cheat you ❤️
For identification purposes both had very thick accents and pretend the line is bad when you ask them pertinent questions like name? Phone number? Where and when purchased?
