Medialunas are a popular type of pastry in Argentina, not as airy as a French croissant
And a lightly chewy, they are often enjoyed plain or with jam, dulce de leche, or cheese. They’re usually smaller than European pastries. The word medialuna literally means “half-moon” in Spanish, referring to their crescent shape.

There are two main types:

🥐 Medialunas de Manteca (Butter Medialunas)
• Sweeter and softer
• Made with a laminated dough similar to croissant dough but with a denser, slightly sticky crumb
• Often glazed with a sugar syrup to make them shiny and sweet

🥐 Medialunas de Grasa (Lard or Shortening Medialunas)
• Less sweet, flakier, and more savory
• Made with animal fat or shortening instead of butter
