There are two commonly asked questions we received from walk-in customers and fellow business owners:
1. Why is your shopfront only open on weekends?
2. Are you still enjoying it?
This month alone, we were asked maybe five times for question number 1 and twice for question number 2.
So here’s our August recap video, which if you know, the enormous amount of time and effort that goes into these creations, the video should already speak for itself.
But sure, some wouldn’t still get it, so here it is, we will answer these in plain black and white.
We’re not a traditional bakery.
During the week, we’re behind the scenes creating bespoke cakes, cupcakes, donuts and dessert orders, travelling across Greater Sydney for weddings, birthdays and special events.
On weekends, we open our doors in Windsor for special order pickups, in-person consultation of bespoke orders, a chance for everyone to taste and indulge with our freshly baked creations, and for those looking for last minute party treats.
We’ve had people tell us we should be open seven days, most if not all, say this with good, pure intention.
But here is our honest reason. We intentionally chose to build a business model that works around our family—not a life where our family has to work around the business.
And surprisingly, our customers embraced it.
They started planning their weekend around us.
They’d drive from other suburbs.
They’d bring their kids.
They’d come for their favourite donut or cupcake and stay for a coffee.
Our little weekend shop became a destination.
And that’s something we are proud of.
Because maybe success doesn’t always mean becoming the biggest.
Maybe sometimes success means building something that is uniquely yours —and making it work for the life you actually want to live.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the key to enjoyment.
Which answers question number 2:
YES, we are still enjoying it.
Welcome to our little corner. We’re so glad you’re here.
