Thursday at Gallo, and the kitchen’s already humming 🌅

There’s something nice about the early hours here. The crumb chicken sizzling away, the first coffees going out, a few familiar faces walking through the door before the day really begins.

Our schnitzel burgers are made the way they always have been — chicken crumbed by hand each morning, golden and crisp, tucked into a soft bun. Simple, honest, and enough to see you through to knock-off.

For the early risers, the bacon and egg rolls are warm and ready. Crispy bacon, fresh egg, a soft roll, your sauce of choice — a quiet little start to the morning ☕

And when lunchtime rolls around, the Honey Chicken & Fried Rice is there waiting. Sweet, comforting, the kind of feed that brings the family together around the table 🍚

This morning at Gallo, Kim’s dipping the lamingtons. 🍫🥥

Soft sponge, dunked in chocolate, rolled through coconut — made by hand, one at a time, no rushing it. When that chocolate-and-coconut smell starts drifting through the shop first thing in the morning, you know it’s going to be a good day.

These are made for the arvo — a cuppa or a coffee, sitting down with the family. And the kids? Forget it. The plate’s empty before they’ve even got their shoes off.

Made fresh every day, but once they’re gone, they’re gone. Get in early. ☕

Cold Monday morning… only 5 degrees outside 🥶

So don’t feel guilty today. Grab a donut, a fresh slice, maybe even an extra pie on the side. Winter is cold enough already 😅

Some of our tradies reckon Thursday is the hardest day of the week… too far from Monday, not close enough to Friday. That’s why a little treat hits different today.

Hot coffee, warm bakery smells, fresh donuts coming out, slices in the cabinet waiting for someone to say “stuff it, why not” 😂

Every winter morning, we notice the same thing…

Tradies walking in rubbing their hands together asking for their usual.
Parents grabbing something warm before school drop-off.
Locals chasing comfort food before starting the day.

And today?
Our Portuguese Burgers and Honey Chicken Fried Rice have been flying out the door since early this morning. 🔥

There’s just something about warm fried rice on a cold morning…
Or biting into a hot Portuguese burger while the weather outside says “stay in bed.” 😅

Winter might be cold, but good comfort food makes it a little easier.

Beautiful Tuesday morning in Warrnambool ☀️
How was everyone’s long weekend break?

For us at Gallo, yesterday still felt like a full-speed Monday 😅
The coffee machine barely stopped, the pie warmer kept working overtime, and plenty of tradies were still out there on the tools while the rest of us tried to enjoy a sleep in. Big respect to the crews that keep going no matter the weather or public holiday 💪

A few customers grabbed breakfast on the run, others stocked up the family with hot pies, sausage rolls and cold packs before heading back to work. Cold mornings somehow make bakery food taste even better.

This week we thought we’d keep the special simple, warm and easy for the lunchbox or smoko break:

Public holidays always feel a little different in Warrnambool.

Some people are sleeping in.
Some are heading off for a drive along the coast.
And plenty of tradies are still up early, looking for a hot coffee and something proper to eat before the day starts.

This morning already, we’ve had familiar faces walk through the door — the usual coffee orders, the usual pies, the usual “same again mate.”

That’s one thing we love about public holidays.
Life slows down a little… but the small routines still matter.

So if you’re out and about today, we’re OPEN until 3PM for the King’s Birthday 👑
