Since moving to Warrandyte it’s influenced how I think about cake making and design.
The colour of new eucalypt growth, the texture of bark, the way light filters through the canopy, leaves gently swaying, the colours changing with the seasons - and it’s got me thinking about cake designs that echo the natural surroundings of Warrandyte and Yarra Valley.
And it doesn’t stop at how a cake looks. Living surrounded by this much green space with farms nearby, I’m increasingly thinking about what goes into my cakes — where the ingredients come from, how they’re grown, what “local” really means. Like a winemaker crafting to reflect the land and weather into this year’s vintage, I also want to reflect the local landscape in my cakes.
Cakes with the terroir baked in.
It’s not just a story for the wine being served or the history of the venue. Imagine every element of your wedding day feeling like it just belongs to this place.
