Phoenix news crew bakes cookies in a hot car
Most have heard the old story about it being hot enough to fry and egg on the sidewalk.
Well in Phoenix, they're apparently more about dessert ... and baking cookies inside cars when it gets hot.
On June 18, when the heat record was tied for the day at 115 degrees, the KPNX 12 News social team decided to bake cookies in a car.
The experiment began at 1:30 p.m. and lasted until about 5:45 p.m.
Video and pictures were taken along the way, and edited down to a short time lapse.
For the most part the media content collected was successful, but there were minor bumps along the road as the heat would result Go Pro cameras shutting down.
The cookies actually turned out quite well, and the 12 News broadcast team enjoyed eating some "Arizona Car Cookies."
