In January 2011 I delivered my first wedding cake to a family friend as a wedding gift. It took another 3 years of playing and making cakes for my children, work colleagues and friends before I decided to start my own cake decorating business. In 2014 I registered my business as 'Konditor Perfection', of German heritage it is a name my lovely mother suggested and I loved it. 'Konditor' meaning 'confectioner', which is still branded on my little delivery van. At that stage I focused mainly on birthday cakes, making only one or two cakes a month whilst working full time in the public service (in financial compliance and quality management!). It wasnt too bad for a first wedding cake, i dont think i even knew how to ganache back then and certainly didnt know how to correctly layer the cakes or use structural support when stacking. I have come a very long way since then, learnt valuable lessons, made a huge amount of mistakes, read dozens of books, watched hundreds of tutorials and attended many many decorating courses. I absolutely love being challenged and am always super keen to learning new skills and techniques.

My beautiful eldest granddaughter, Amelia, turned 8 last month! Her parents put together an amazing Survivor-themed party with her friends. It was another incredible Sarah creation—my goodness, that girl is so talented! It was so much fun watching the kids tackle all the challenges. Watson Park didn't disappoint either; it was the perfect day for a park party. I even got my Cricut going to make some custom buffs for the kids, and I'm pretty stoked with how they turned out! 🥳🎂

Happy 5th Birthday to my beautiful granddaughter Eden! 🎉 Turning five is such a magical milestone, and a pink unicorn party at ‘Let’s Play’ was the perfect way to celebrate her big day.

Balancing the cake business and a busy family calendar with seven young grandchildren is no small feat—especially with five huddling their birthdays together in July and September!

Be prepared for a few more grandchildren cakes 😍

More grandkids..

A few weeks before Eden’s birthday, was time to celebrate little brother Ellis turning two! 🥳 We started a sweet new family tradition for the two-year-olds: decorating their own cake. There was definitely some taste-testing, a few finger-prints, and maybe a little extra saliva involved... but that didn't stop anyone from diving right into the treats! 🎂✨

Sarah did a fantastic job bringing everyone's favorite green dinosaur to life for Tom's birthday. A custom Yoshi cake is the ultimate reward for a Mario fan, perfectly combining nostalgia with a delicious centerpiece.

Happy Birthday to Tom! Hope it was a truly super day. Level up! 🌟

I’m so far behind on posting my cake photos! Between baking, decorating and enjoying quality time with my beautiful grandchildren, the social media and all other admin always seem to get put on the back burner.

To catch up, I’m throwing it back to mid-July! Get ready for a delicious trip down memory lane over the next week or two .. 🥰✨

Starting with this elegant 3-tier cake featuring handmade hydrangea sugar flowers.

Happy 2nd birthday Hugo, my super cute grandson #2.

On this occasion food safety standards were not enforced and family were warned of the finger licking and taste testing 😆
