Now before you look at the pictures of these next cakes... no, I haven't lost the ability to decorate! 😂
If you're a gamer (which I most definitely am not), you'll probably recognise this cake straight away. It comes from Resident Evil, which apparently is this young lady's absolute favourite game.
When Mumma Bear first asked me to make it, I was pretty excited. No spending 20 minutes smoothing buttercream, no chasing air bubbles around the cake, no obsessing over getting that perfectly flawless Swiss meringue buttercream finish. A cake decorator's dream, right?
Wrong.
My brain is apparently hardwired to make everything as smooth and perfect as possible, so intentionally making a cake look worn, weathered and slightly terrifying felt completely unnatural. Every time I added an imperfection, my inner cake decorator wanted to fix it. We battled. The cake won. 😂
As if the cake wasn't spooky enough, this young lady is turning 16 on the 16th day of the 6th month in 2026, so naturally Mumma Bear requested a matching set of black buttercream cupcakes topped with 666. Because apparently we're fully committing to the theme here! 😈
Happy 16th Birthday! I hope your day is filled with fun, cake, and significantly fewer zombies than the game that inspired it. 🎂🧟‍♀️

It's always a good day when Transformers roll into the kitchen!
This chocolate birthday cake was created for a very special young man celebrating his 6th birthday. Covered in smooth vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream and decorated with all things Transformers, it was ready to help make his big day extra memorable.
Of course, no birthday celebration is complete without cupcakes to share, so a matching set of vanilla cupcakes joined the party. Swirls of colourful Swiss meringue buttercream were topped with handmade fondant Transformers masks, making them the perfect treat for family and friends.

When this lovely young lady contacted me, she was looking for a special set of cupcakes to celebrate her mum reaching the end of her radiation treatment for lip cancer... and if that's not a reason to celebrate, I don't know what is!

These vanilla cupcakes were decorated with silky Swiss meringue buttercream and topped with handcrafted fondant radiation symbols, while the others featured a luscious pair of lips to mark the occasion in a fun and meaningful way.

After what I'm sure has been a challenging journey for both mum and daughter, it was an absolute privilege to create these cupcakes for such a special milestone. Here's to brighter days ahead and plenty of reasons to smile!

When my lovely client contacted me, she was after a birthday cake for her soon-to-be 2-year-old little girl. The brief was simple: pink and farm animals.

She mentioned she'd looked through my page and couldn't find any farm animal cakes. There was a very good reason for that... I'd never made farm animals before! But I'm always up for a challenge (and apparently a trip to the fondant petting zoo), so I happily agreed.

We settled on a cow, pig, sheep and duck, and I set off creating my little farmyard crew. Thankfully none of them escaped the kitchen during production!

Originally, I had visions of a pink fondant farmhouse sitting proudly on top of the cake, but as the design came together, I felt the soft shades of pink, white and mint Swiss meringue buttercream complemented everything perfectly. Add a touch of edible glitter and hey presto – a farm cake with a little bit of sparkle and absolutely no mud.

The best part? My client told me it far exceeded her expectations, which is always one of the nicest compliments I can receive. Safe to say this little farm adventure was a success, and I think the animals may have earned themselves a return booking.

This chocolate Paw Patrol Dino Rescue cake was created for a very special young man who is a big fan of pups and prehistoric adventures!

Layers of delicious chocolate cake were wrapped in silky vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream before being transformed with edible Paw Patrol Dino Rescue images and finished with two homemade fondant dinosaurs standing guard over the cake.

With plenty of dino-sized excitement and all his favourite rescue pups along for the ride, this cake was ready for an action-packed birthday celebration. I hope your day was filled with adventure, laughter, and maybe just a few dinosaur roars!

These beautifully decorated cupcakes were created to add a touch of sweetness and elegance to a wedding dessert table.

Featuring a delicious assortment of chocolate, vanilla, lemon and caramel flavours, each cupcake was finished with silky smooth Swiss meringue buttercream in delicate shades of peach, pink and lavender. The soft colour palette perfectly complemented the wedding theme, creating a stunning display that was almost too pretty to eat.

A beautiful addition to a very special celebration, these little treats proved that sometimes the sweetest moments come in cupcake form. 💕🧁

Wishing the happy couple a lifetime filled with love, laughter and plenty of sweet memories. 💍✨

These were the first cupcakes to be decorated after my unexpected hospital holiday, and honestly, thank goodness they were minis!

A mix of chocolate and vanilla cupcakes topped with silky smooth Swiss meringue buttercream in shades of pink, purple and blue, then finished with this young lady's request for turtles and an ocean theme.

Thankfully, I'd made all the fondant decorations before my little detour to hospital, because trying to model tiny turtles while running on hospital food, antibiotics and sheer determination may have been a step too far!

Safe to say these little ocean beauties were the perfect way to ease myself back into caking life. Small cupcakes, tiny turtles, and a very grateful cake maker who was much happier being in the kitchen than wearing a hospital wristband!

In my last post I mentioned that I ended up in hospital. Well, buckle up, because these cupcakes have quite the backstory...

Not this past Wednesday, but the one before, I was feeling absolutely awful. I couldn't breathe properly, I was coughing constantly, and I was more exhausted than I've ever been in my life. This coming from someone who usually survives on about four hours of sleep a night!

I took myself off to bed and proceeded to sleep on and off for 17 hours. SEVENTEEN. My family should have called the authorities because clearly something was very wrong.

Thursday and Friday weren't much better, but I had cakes to decorate for the weekend. Anyone who knows me knows that cancelling isn't in my vocabulary. So my decorating process became: decorate a little, go back to bed, decorate a little more, back to bed again. Repeat until finished. Somewhere in amongst all of that I managed to fall over twice and developed a temperature that was climbing faster than my cake prices should be!

By Sunday morning I finally admitted defeat and booked a doctor's appointment. Thankfully I did, because after one look at me the doctor pretty much said, "Congratulations, your next stop is Emergency."

The next 48 hours were a complete blur. Turns out I had bacterial pneumonia, my blood pressure was doing its best impression of a limbo champion, and I was being pumped full of antibiotics, fluids, steroids and painkillers. ICU assessed me twice and had practically reserved me a room as I was getting dangerously close to sepsis. Thankfully, I managed to avoid that particular holiday destination.

I'm now home recovering, although I'm still battling pleurisy and some lingering infection. Apparently recovery is "a marathon, not a sprint." Which is a ridiculous analogy considering I currently get puffed out walking to the kettle. 😂

As a result, I've decided not to take on any new orders for the remainder of June, although I will honour the bookings I already have as I continue recovering.

Now... onto today's cupcakes.

I had an order due, but I knew I wasn't going to be home. Being the stubborn cake lady that I am, I spent far too much time figuring out how not to let my client down. The toppers had thankfully been made before my dramatic hospital admission, so my plan was simple: get the cupcakes, buttercream and sprinkles delivered to me and decorate them wherever I happened to be.

What could possibly go wrong?

Well, the moment I started decorating, the hospital informed me they had finally found me a bed in the acute ward.

Did I stop decorating?

Of course not.

With the help of some absolutely beautiful nurses and a couple of very understanding doctors, my transfer was delayed while I finished piping cupcakes. The poor nurses even got into trouble for delaying the move, for which I apologised profusely afterwards. Apparently "the cupcakes aren't finished yet" isn't considered an acceptable medical reason!

So these cupcakes have quite the story behind them. Decorated somewhere between hospital admissions, medication rounds and medical staff shaking their heads at my life choices.

Half vanilla and half caramel cupcakes, topped with navy blue and white Swiss meringue buttercream and finished with fondant toppers for a young man celebrating his 21st birthday. A special gift from his mumma bear who couldn't be there in person.

I may have decorated them from a hospital ward, but a promise is a promise. ❤️

This was the last cake out the door before I was admitted to hospital quite unexpectedly (more on that later!!).

This little man had a very important mission for me — create a police cake! 🚔👮‍♂️

Made with rich chocolate cake, covered in silky smooth vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream and finished with police-themed edible images, this cake was ready for duty.

No speeding tickets were issued during the making of this cake, although quality control may have required the consumption of a few crumbs along the way. 😉

Thankfully, this birthday boy's cake was safely delivered before my own unexpected trip to the emergency department!

I hope he had an amazing birthday filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of cake. 🚔🎂💙

This beautiful chocolate cake was created as a heartfelt birthday gift from one friend to another, proving that some of the sweetest gifts come from those who know us best.

Keeping things simple yet elegant, this rich chocolate cake was finished with silky smooth vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream in a soft pastel pink. Three stunning sugar lilies, lovingly supplied by Cakers Paradise, added a touch of sophistication, while delicate edible pearls and a generous dusting of edible glitter brought the perfect amount of sparkle and elegance.

A gorgeous cake for a special birthday celebration and a wonderful way to show someone just how much they mean to you. ✨🎂💕
