You can find us most weekend at markets around the Brisbane and Redland Bay area as well as catering for special events. ook and are lovingly prepared fresh, handmade and personally crafted by the owner and baker Danica Horvatic. Originally from Croatia the Horvatic family loves indulging in the family tradition of making and eating these stunning Croatian treats all year round, particularly for special occasions such as Easter, Christmas, Weddings and Christenings. But let’s be honest, like a true Croatian family we never need an excuse to indulge in these delicious treats! Croatian sweet recipes are distinctly regional and offer a range of pastries made with many different influences from around Europe. Most of these recipes require a high degree of patience, technique and love to produce the premium quality that Kolači is recognised for. In today’s busy life it is hard for most of us to find the time to bake at home, whether it be for a celebration or to just simply spoil your loved ones. That is why Kolači can take the worry and fuss away and do the baking for you, all you have to do is contact owner and baker Danica then enjoy!

Mađarica – The Chocolate Layer Cake
A beautiful and delicious traditional Croatian cake that can be described three ways: Chocolaty, Creamy and Devine! This cake is constructed of alternation layers of a single sheet of baked pasty and rich chocolate filling then finished with a beautiful shimmering chocolate glaze.

Štrudla sa jabukam – Apple Strudel
Apple Strudel consists of an oblong pastry with an apple, walnuts, raisins and spiced filling inside. The pastry dough consists of flour, water and oil. It is kneaded and stretched to a thin translucent consistency before being filled with the delightful apple mix. Strudel is traditionally served in slices and sprinkled lightly with icing sugar.

Jastučići sa pekmezom – Jam Pockets
Tasty and crunchy cooked filled with Podravka Plum Jam. This can be eaten at any time of the day and served at any occasion.

Čokoladni kolač sa bademima – Chocolate Almond Tarts
The moment you bite into this tasteful cookie you will not be able to stop yourself form going back for a second and then a third. These little tarts are filled with a mixture of cream, almonds, cocoa and a dash of peach jam hidden under the filling.

Štapići od sira – Cheese Sticks
Crunchy, slaty and very cheesy sticks with sprinkles of sesame seeds of caraway seeds. These little morsels are irresistible and yummy to nibble with any drink or to eat as you go.
