农历新年又称春节，是中国、韩国、越南以及其他亚洲国家的传统节日，全球每年有数以百万计的人们庆祝这一最重要的日子。
农历新年庆祝活动已经成为新州多元文化日历上的一大亮点，反映了本州多姿多彩的文化遗产，是社区与古老传统紧密联系的桥梁。
生肖蛇代表了灵活、容忍、智慧、神秘和具备战略思维。今年蛇年恰逢“双春年”，属中国古老的干支纪年法中罕见的吉兆，因为人们相信双春会带来双倍的财富和好运。
悉尼农历新年庆祝活动规模每年壮大，精彩节目包括街头游行、夜市以及文化表演，成为本地居民和游客的吸铁石。
