Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be in the kitchen baking. The first cake I "attempted" to bake was from a recipe in a large children's cookbook I had borrowed from my primary school library. I lugged this book all the way home and began creating my masterpiece. It was a simple plain vanilla cake. I creamed the sugar and butter, added the eggs et cetera. I pulled the cake out of the ove
n once it was baked and although my 9 year old self had scrupulously followed the instructions to a T, the cake was much flatter and darker than what was in the picture. I thought I would finish my cake off with some thin green icing, that resembled runny snot, and some lovely banana slices. I don't know what I did wrong, to this day, but it was the most disgusting thing I had ever tasted! Even my Mum's dogs wouldn't touch it! Through this experience, my passion and determination to make and decorate amazing cakes and baked goods grew. It taught me to never give up trying, even if your first attempt stinks (literally!!)
Today, I am grateful to have experienced baking a range of cakes for various events such as weddings, birthdays, Christmas celebrations and Baby showers. For now, this page is a space to share my journey and adventures with cake baking. Soon, I hope to produce cakes for the entire nation. Dream big, right?! :P
