My beautiful niece Elle celebrated her first birthday on new year's eve!

So I'm kicking off 2023 with her daisy themed cake. No doubt I will be kicking off every new year with her cake from here on out! 🤣

My sister designed this cake herself, everything from colour palette to design elements, to flower placements...even down to specific thicknesses of my palette knife strokes 🤨😅
I just did my best in bringing her vision to life and I love how it turned out!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year celebrations with your loved ones.

I had a wonderful break but sometimes it feels like I'm trying to fit so much into those two short weeks that I now feel like I need a break to recover from my break 🤣

I will be taking a short break from 23rd Dec to 8th Jan to enjoy some much needed time with family.

I will return to the kitchen on Monday 9th Jan.

I'm excited for 2023. Lots of plans that I want to bring to life! Can't wait to share them all with you.

So this week I celebrated a birthday. As a cake maker, it's actually quite hard to make your own birthday cake. Purely for the reason that there are too many possibilities to try 😂

I was committed to making a proper birthday cake for myself this year because each year its usually some last minute thing that I just slapped together in 2 minutes. Or nothing at all.

Keeping in style with my love for minimalist, clean designs I chose to make this one. I love the movement of the sails. I love the textures on the cake and I love it's subtle colours.

If life is just a bit much at the moment (I know the feeling!) I always remember the song from Avicii "The Nights" where he sings "One day you'll leave this life behind so live a life you will remember."

A N N O U N C E M E N T ! !

I am so excited to share with the world that my website AND online shop is officially up and running!

It has been such a MASSIVE piece of work for me with lots of trial and error and plenty of learnings along the way.

I am so proud of myself. Can I say that? No one's going to take that the wrong way, right? Because I AM!

I went from having nothing and knowing nothing, to having a functioning website and shop - all made with my own two hands ✋️
Yes, there will probably be glitches or errors, but that's OK. If something's not working, please let me know! 🙏

You can find all the details about my custom cakes on the website. My online shop is for all your non-custom cakes and orders where you just need something simple and easy - and equally delicious! But without the fuss and customisation of a bespoke cake.

M E E T T H E B A K E R

I can't speak for other bakers, but for me, I am definitely NOT at my most glamorous when baking 😂
Oh, who am I kidding? I am NEVER glamorous - baking or not! 😅
But I am happy. Stressed? Most definitely! Excited? 💯! Exhausted? Yes. But always happy in the kitchen.

So here is me in my element holding a bowl of freshly made deliciously silky Swiss meringue buttercream.

And here's 5 more things that you might not know about me:
1. I love to garden. I am always expanding my garden (much to my husband's dismay!)
2. I also love to sew, knit and crochet. I pretty much love making anything with my hands.
3. One of my favourite Christmas films is Its A Wonderful Life and I watch it every year at Christmas time. It's a reminder to myself to always cherish the life I have.
4. I love salty sweet flavours - think salted caramel, bacon and maple syrup etc (much to my husband's disgust 😂)
5. I REALLY dislike social media 🤫🤭. Probably because it's so time consuming and demanding and because I suck at it 😂
I would rather be doing anything else but I treat it as a business requirement.
