🍪BISCUITS! Did you know that biscuits were first made by the British as breath fresheners? In the 17th century biscuits were originally made to be dunked in wine at the end of a meal. Not my biscuits, these lemon/lime, homemade, curd filled shortbread sandwich biscuits are the perfect bikkie with a cuppa (no dunking required) or a sweet treat to end your meal. Other customer bakes last week included the French Inspired Custard Vanilla Slice Cake (Happy Birthday Greg🥳) Blueberry and Banana Jumbo Muffins, Corn Bread 🌽and Kifle (Almond and Vanilla). So today on my Birth-day 🎂 I made myself a special cake, if Custard Tart and Vanilla slice had a baby this would be it! A French inspired dessert that has three layers of different textures when it's baked. The bottom layer is custard-like, the middle layer is creamier, and the top layer is sponge-like sprinkled with nutmeg and icing sugar. What a beautiful autumn 🍂 day to end the week that was filled with delicious sweet & savoury treats. This week's customer bakes included; Chocolate Gooey Brownies, Vanilla Kifle, Corn Bread, Caramel Slice and Cinnamon Scrolls.

What a baking week it has been! Full of variety sweet & savoury 🎂🍞 One of the bakes was a Minion Cake for a beautiful girl who was turning 2. Now, I am not a professional cake maker by any means so this was an exciting challenge. I had so much fun with this bake from designing to decorating and to see the smile on the Birthday Girl's face was the biggest reward. A delicious moist dark chocolate and vanilla layer cake filled with vanilla buttercream, white chocolate blue ganache and topped with sprinkles, blue clouds and of course a lollipop 🍭 Other customer bakes included JUMBO Dark double chocolate Muffins, Dark Chocolate Ganache Tarts, Savoury Pull-aparts, Almond Kifle, Cinnamon Scrolls and Caramel Slice.
