Here we are about to retire (again). Looks much more promising this time!. Our last trading day is this Tuesday 19th November. Life has been more than hectic over the past few weeks, with one of our busiest Melbourne Cup weeks ever. There is also a lot of extra organizing to be done when your business changes hands. We are very grateful to the many people over many years (36) who have helped make our country bakery so successful, from the many staff, suppliers and all the customers who have supported us over the journey. We will be helping the new owners for the next couple of weeks and then Ray for a bit longer, they intend to employ our current staff, so there will still be familiar faces to look after you. We wish Hai and Kim the very best in their new business and hope they receive continued support from the community as we have. We will no doubt feel a bit lost after all these years of milking cows or running a bakery, but are also looking forward to some freedom in our lives. Thank you All Once Again Glenda & Ray..

Hard to believe that 36 years ago today we began our little country bakery business in a small rented premises a couple of doors away from where we are situated now, in our own purpose built bakery/cafe. As a couple who had been dairy farming for quite a few years, we had a lot to learn, which has obviously gone okay. We are Very grateful to the many people who have helped, in many ways, to get us this far.. We would, however, like to retire some day.. Maybe there is someone out there who can follow on.. We wish to confirm that our opening hours are 6am-5pm every day, except Good Friday & Christmas Day. Our main problem at present is to find some junior staff for weekend & holiday shifts. If anyone is interested & is 15,16 or maybe just 17 years old they can contact Glenda on 0458441572. The shifts are as follows 6am-2.pm.. 7.30am-2.30pm.. 9am-4pm.. & 10am-5pm.. A half hour lunch break (unpaid) & a 10 minute tea break (paid) are included.. We normally allow our juniors to nominate the day & shift which best suits them & doesn"t have to be every weekend, although we appreciate some notice if they are going to be unavailable.. We are currently looking to hire some 15-16 year olds, as we have a few juniors who are now heading off to university or the full time workforce. There are four shifts each day, covering our opening hours of 6am-5pm, every day. We require juniors for weekends & some school holidays, Each shift is for 6 &1/2 or 7 1/2 hours with a 1/2 hour lunch break. Merry Christmas & Very Best Wishes for 2024 to All Our Customers, Staff, Suppliers, Family & Friends. We weren't expecting to be back in the Bakery but Very Much Appreciate All the Support We have had so far. The Bakery is Closed on Monday, for Christmas, but will be trading as usual after then. We are a bit short staffed in the baking department but will do our best to keep up with the demand. Please ring 03 58 745 398 for any orders. We do not take orders via facebook. Thank You..

Pleased to report the stray sheep have been located, thanks to a message that I put on facebook. Seems they decided to have a bit of a visit or holiday with some neighboring sheep, so went undetected for a few weeks. Thanks for your help & honesty.

On this day in 2022 we were doing our last day at Strathy Hot Bread. (Or so we thought!) We have now been reopened again for 6-1/2 months. It has been quite a journey re-establishing our business, but we are pleased to say that it has gradually come back to being the business & products that we & our customers have come to expect over the many years that we have been in our bakery. Thank you to our staff & customers both old & new for helping get us back to where we are today.. Hopefully we can "retire" again one day!! Regards Glenda & Ray Kelly..
