Come by before 9am tomorrow for all your caffeine and treat needs, we will be closing early to give our tradespeople the safe space they need to work out front of the shop. Our awning, poor gal, has been patiently waiting on this facelift for longer than we hoped. Thank you to Paul for getting it across the line and sending love and well wishes to Cameron and Jacqui, who were set to do the work before family truly needed to come first. Quietly excited, loudly hoping rain does not interfere 🤞🏻xo

Being a 7 day a week business means it can be tricky making the bigger changes in store and outside that we need. So a couple of short Mondays were needed to see some projects through. We have some exciting shake ups in the works for inside the shop that will make our workflow better and hopefully your hugs experience too. And if you’ve visited in the last 6 months you’ll know our poor awning has been through it, making both sunny and rainy weather challenging for outdoor diners to say the least. We finally have a date for the poor gal’s refurb.

We’re sorry if this causes any disruptions to your plans. We hope you’ll agree the big picture upgrades are well worth it xo

May at hugs has been a properly busy month. With our newest recruit Julz on deck in the kitchen there’s fresh energy to spare as we revive some of our old faves. Blowing the dust off neglected recipes has been healing in the best way and seeing your work through someone else’s enthusiastic perspective is a true gift. We’re so SO happy you’re here, Julz 💛

If you’ve taken a peek at our stories lately you’ll see we start each day there with a sunrise, usually over the ocean, filmed by some talented content creator who really cracked the code on how they make a living. My psychiatrist not long ago prescribed me the ocean in general but big rolling waves and distant horizons in particular. Not to be in, but to look at, to listen to. The research is undeniable, he said. You will feel better. Turns out that the research is undeniable that our brains can’t distinguish between real life and images on a screen, too. Mothers Day Preorders ❤️

We are crafting a very gentle return to pre-orders this Mother’s Day. To make counting, picking, packing and collecting run as smoothly as possible we are offering packs of 4 x plain croissant for $30, shopped via the QR code found by swiping right on this post.

Purchase as many 4 packs as you’d like and our team will have them ready for pick up from 7am on Sunday 10th May.

Collection of prepaid croissants will be from unit 4 this year, the roller door on the other side of the flower shop. They will throw their door open for a quick in-and-out pickup, helping you get your pastries home to mum quick smart.

You’ll find coffee and pastries to purchase on the day in the usual way too. We’ll do our best to scale up to meet demand but if you want to guarantee your croissants, pop a pre order in xo

Feels like just yesterday April was fooling us but today it’s May. This month your hugs team have changed shape a little, adjusted their approach a touch and started the ball rolling on finding our way home to who we want to be. Preordering your fave pastries used to be the norm around here and we can’t wait to get our processes back up and running for you. This Mother’s Day we’ve kept it really streamlined and simple, and recruited the neighbourly assistance of our friends in unit 4. It will be a great day all round, we’re keen to stretch our legs.

We hope you’re all getting on alright out there, despite the day by day news cycle jump scares. We’re looking for the little glimmers in our day best we can over here. A coffee machine within reach and the smell of pastries cooking certainly makes that a little easier. Sending hugs, see you soon? xo
