A difficult update from us at Goody Goodness Gluten Free 💛
As of today, our storefront, Goody Goodness Gluten Free Café & Kitchen, is permanently closed.
I know this has happened very suddenly, but our circumstances meant this decision had to be made quickly.
Unfortunately, the costs associated with operating a physical storefront just aren’t sustainable for us.
I’m honestly struggling to put into words how I feel about all of this. It’s been an incredibly emotional journey, and walking away from the shop is something I never thought I’d have to do.
I’ve loved being able to create a space that was safe for coeliacs to come and enjoy food, even if it was only for a little while.
So much love, hard work, passion, stress and so many hours went into that shop, and I’m incredibly proud of what we created.
I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who came out and tried our food, and to everyone who supported us along the way. Every visit, order, share, recommendation and kind word meant more than you probably realise.
I also need to thank my amazing staff and my family. Without them, I genuinely wouldn’t have been able to open those doors in the first place. They stepped up, helped me through the good days and the really hard ones, and gave so much of themselves to Goody Goodness.
And especially my mum. 💛
Many of you would have met my mum while she was serving your meals or coffees, having friendly chats, checking in on people or just being her warm, welcoming self.
My mum is the reason Goody Goodness exists.
She is coeliac, and watching her navigate a world where finding genuinely safe, delicious gluten free food isn’t always easy is what started this whole journey for me.
What began with wanting to create something for my mum eventually grew into something so much bigger than I ever imagined.
When I decided to open the shop, Mum didn’t just stand on the sidelines and support me. She stepped up in a massive way and became such a huge part of Goody Goodness.
Many of you got to know her, whether it was through her serving your meals or coffees, having a chat with you, or simply being there and making everyone feel welcome.
She gave so much of her time, energy and love to this little business, and I genuinely couldn’t have done it without her.
I’m incredibly proud to call her my mum, and even more proud that the reason I started this journey in the first place was because of her. 💛
And Dad. 💛
Dad is the man who would spend 14-hour days in that shop painting, building furniture, moving things around and doing whatever needed to be done.
And when we found ourselves short handed, he stepped up and did something he had never done before. He gave kitchen work a red hot crack. And honestly, he absolutely smashed it.
He gave so much of his time, energy and himself to help me make Goody Goodness what it was, and I’ll never forget that.
I’m incredibly lucky to have parents who will jump in beside me and do whatever it takes to help.
To anyone who currently has a booking with us, I am so incredibly sorry, but unfortunately all bookings will need to be cancelled. Alex will be contacting everyone directly regarding their bookings.
And for those who entered our Father’s Day giveaway, the giveaway will still be going ahead and the winner will be drawn on Father’s Day as planned. We won’t be accepting any further entries from today.
Goody Goodness Gluten Free will continue to exist, just without a storefront for now.
I need some time to step back, breathe, spend some time with my beautiful boys and recover from the emotional whiplash of everything that has happened.
Once I’ve had some time to recoup, I’ll hopefully be back in some form. Whether that’s markets, cakes, orders, baking, or something completely different.
I don’t know exactly what the future of Goody Goodness will look like yet, and I’m okay with that.
This page will remain active, so if and when I’m ready to start doing something again, this is where I’ll let you know.
For now, I’m taking a breath, spending some much needed time with my boys, and giving myself a chance to just be.
Thank you for being here, for supporting my little business and for being part of this chapter. 💛
The storefront may be closed, but Goody Goodness isn’t gone.
