Mel’s husband Nath here, sorry but this will be a long post. As a lot of you know Mel runs this business on her own as well as looking after our 4 kids and myself! I can guarantee she works way more hours a week than I do full time!
It’s been a very long time since I have seen Mel unwell like this but on Friday she ended up in hospital, she will be ok after surgery and rest.
I actually can’t remember the last time Mel had to cancel a cake on anyone and certainly not an entire weekend worth of cakes.
I have been through her work orders and reached out to those people yesterday.
At the point of her going down she was already part way through her Saturday cakes, there are 5 cakes she had already stacked and put the base coat on ready to decorate. I wouldn’t want to see them goto waste so I’m going to put them up for sale if anyone wants to have a cake decorating afternoon with the kids or themselves, no matter the results the cake will be delicious! The flavours will be a surprise as I don’t know what they are but I’ve eaten all her flavours and there’s not a bad one in there! Pickup will be between 2-4pm today, I don’t have a lot of spare time today, between kids sports and needing to get back to Mel.
It will be just the cake on the board because I have no idea where the boxes are so bring a passenger to hold it on the way home, there is icing that holds the cake to the board so should travel fine.
