As I was sketching, drawing up ideas for the next bunch of cakes I have coming up, I was thinking about my process and how so many people don't know how often I think about new techniques, new ways to better designs etc etc.

So, I thought I would share roughly how I piece it all together. Here is my recent Frozen2 themed cake. I start with the base, what size and height do I want it to be? What colour is the icing on the cake going to be? I make a list of what things I definitely want on the cake and what technique is going to be used. I identify the colour palette of the decorations and how to make the cake board fit into that. Lastly, I sketch it up and make a to-do list of what needs to be done on which night leading up to pickup.

Hahaha which is why I do prefer as much notice as I can on cakes, as I am thinking and designing well in advance!
