Needed - a few good Devoteas to help this class go ahead. We make the jam, the scones, and I bring the clotted cream. And the best part of the day - everything is shared on lovely bone china and crystal with the lovely people who make up the class. A great class to share with friends. You will get all the recipes and leftovers to take home. If you like the idea, but can't make it this Sunday, please let the community centre know as we can always schedule a class next year. I just love Devonshire Teas.

Course summary It all starts with a scone! Come and join us for a fun afternoon of baking and enjoying scones fresh from the oven. Devonshire tea devotee, Therese Slee, will teach you everything you need to know about creating perfect scones at home. This workshop includes time to enjoy a traditiona...

Some pictures from our Devonshire Class at Kensington Neighbourhood House held with a lovely group of Devonshire Tea lovers. We made jam, of course scones, and whipped both a Devonshire style cream and a home made clotted cream. After the hard work everyone chose their own teaware and enjoyed their scones with freshly brewed tea.
Thankyou to all who came to the class and to KNH. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon.

No excuse needed but now I have a (yummy) project for this afternoon!

Enjoy a little Lamington love today!

Why? Because it's Lamington Day!

Doing one of my favourite things - sharing afternoon tea with neighbours. And being just a little bit fancy. All set up and just waiting for the scones to come out of the oven.
Yum!

Some pictures of last weekend's zoom class - hosted by Yarraville Community Centre and taught by me. We made a quick mix shortbread and also a more traditional recipe handed down from a friend's grandmother.

Despite the mess from our water leaks and all the extra stuff that has come out of No. 2 sons bedroom cleanup we have a spare bookshelf that won't fit back in - and I am putting it to good use. Guess what my favourite things are?

Didn't grow up on the wood stove generation - but more excited when Annabel used a cup and saucer from the dinnerset exactly the same as my Mum's and which I now use frequently. In Mum's day it was only used at Christmas - although it was loaned out for Church functions. There must have been a few of these around as they were marked on the base with nail polish to identify them.

And why am I sharing this? Not only was I roadie and caterer, the creator is my son (Patrick Slee , aka W.D. Stevens)
It was a great effort by all involved and we are proud of the result and of Patrick.
He is looking for feedback as this is what is called a 'proof of concept' to try and get this produced as a whole series and we are trying to get it out to as many people as possible.
If you like the trailer - well the full episode will be up later today and I will be sharing that too.
Thanks for reading,
Therese Slee

What great timing. Received our first delivery from Cheese Therapy and Michael has made a spectacular batch of sourdough crackers.
We think the one in the middle looks like a weedy seadragon.
What do you think?

Clotted cream is what makes a scone extra special.
Hard to find locally and not likely to get to England to try the real deal - so we made our own!
Pretty chuffed with the result and it tasted even better.

The last Friday of June is National Cream Tea Day in the UK - and every year I find out about it afterwards.
Not this year!
Happy National Cream Tea Day - with clotted cream.
