This cake challenged me in ways I didn’t expect.
I’ve made anti-gravity cakes and structural cakes before, but this one… this one was different. The hardest part wasn’t decorating—it was engineering a mechanism that could make an entire cake spin smoothly and reliably.
I found myself spending hours at Bunnings, researching bearings, bolts, timber, and tools. There was a lot of trial and error, plenty of moments where my brain felt completely overloaded, and more problem-solving than cake decorating.
The funny thing is, I’m a girly girl. I love pretty dresses, doing my hair, flowers, and beautiful cakes. But I also genuinely love building things. I love understanding how they work, taking on challenges, and turning an idea into something real.
This project reminded me that creativity isn’t just about making something beautiful. Sometimes it’s about engineering, persistence, and being willing to learn skills you never imagined you’d need.
From a simple idea to a spinning Earth cake—this project taught me that the most rewarding creations are often the ones that push you beyond what you thought you could do. 🌍🚀
