Last month TWO very special books that celebrate neurodiversity in fresh ways made their way into the world. We feel so lucky to work alongside such passionate authors. Here are two people (Sandhya Menon and Chrissie Davies) who relentlessly pursue change in their fields and for their clients. Two people who are child behaviour experts yet are finding their voices as authors. It is a thrill to be privy to the evolution of these books.
As their editors, we've seen these authors through the entire process: seed to fruition.
We've seen these books go from an inclination (i.e. rough draft) to a beautiful physical product.
Both books draw from personal experiences, taking knowledge and wisdom from working with and living in neurodiverse families and applying it in a form that helps children, families, educators (and more) understand a complex field.
The Rainbow Brain by Sandhya Menon from is the follow up to The Brain Forest. In her newest book, the AuDHD brain (autism and ADHD) is explored, along with many other incredible brains. The book is the first of its kind to understand both autism and ADHD together.
Love Me, Love My ADHD by Chrissie Davies from focuses on the strengths that come with being an ADHDer. The book emphasises that ADHD is not a one-size fits all experience, which we witness through the two sibling characters, Clancy and Tully.
Both books are essential reading in understanding how to explain to children the diverse range of brains that (thankfully) exist in our society. They encourage empathy and are beautiful to read - thanks to the wonderful designers Kushla from (The Rainbow Brain) and Trish from .
