game 1 of the state of origin is on tomorrow night. and it’s the unofficial night 1 of national pie night.

whether you’re from qld or nsw, i reckon we can all agree on one thing…
footy without a pie is unaustralian.

like most, if you’re watching the game from the comfort of your own stadium (aka lounge room) then grab your favourite pie (pasty or sausage roll) and have a try at baking a winner at home. it only takes a half of the first half to bake fresh. that’s approx. 20mins for those with too many knocks to the head.

either these guys are really big or they’re fighting over the last buff, bacon and cheese party pie.

these special edition party pies were a special request for the maleny show society’s trivia night a few weeks back.

the buff, bacon and cheese party pie is a party pie sized version of local maleny buffalo, local bacon and kenilworth dairies cheddar in my signature roasted beef bone broth gravy, made from obi pasture co. beef bones.

the maleny pie guy hq is looking for a barista/allrounder (casual contract) to join our crew. shifts 7:30am–3:00pm(ish), 2–3 regular days/week plus the odd cover shift if keen. this is a hands-on hospo role: pulling consistent coffees, service with a smile, and baking fresh baked pies, pasties and sausage rolls.

what you’ll be doing
• making consistent espresso-based coffees
• fast, friendly customer service
• using square pos for transactions
• baking pies, pasties and sausage rolls (easy when you know how, training provided)
• plus general hospo duties – daily cleaning, rotating/restocking and social media posts (if that’s your jam)
what we’re looking for
• confident barista skills - you know your way around a machine and grinder adjustment
• hospo/customer service experience where you make our customers feel welcome and go the extra mile
• reliable, friendly, and organised - a team player with good energy for a great team fit
• happy to roll up your sleeves and pitch in across all areas of the shop – barista, baker and service

the production kitchen needs another pair of willing hands, a few days a week, to help build real pies, be part of a great team and be prepared to get those hands dirty (in a pie making fashion).

the successful applicant will include the following
• reliable, hardworking and team player attitude
• physically fit as manual labour is required
• own transport
• batch cooking experience and/or pastry production preferred, but not essential
