I’m endlessly fascinated by how light transforms a surface.

The same form can feel entirely different depending on where the shadows fall, what catches the light, and what is left unseen.

For me, design begins long before decoration.

It starts with atmosphere.
With movement.
With creating something that feels as though it belongs to its surroundings.

This piece was inspired by shifting light, weathered landscapes and organic forms - brought together through hand-shaped rice paper elements and layered surface work.

Not simply created to be viewed.

Created to be felt.

Welcome to Wilde Cake Studio.

For a while now, I’ve felt a quiet pull towards something new. A name and brand that feels more aligned with the work I create, the stories I want to tell, and the direction my business is growing in.

Creatures of Habit Cakery has been such an important part of my journey, and I’ll always be grateful for everything it has given me.

Those who know me, will know I’m a deeply spiritual person, so it feels especially meaningful that this big change arrives under a Blue Moon - a rare and special moment often linked with reflection, intuition and new beginnings.

Tomorrow I step into a new kitchen, and today I step into a new era for my business.

Wilde Cake Studio feels like a natural evolution. Rooted in Skye, shaped by its wild landscapes, shifting seasons and quiet magic, it reflects the heart of what I create, where I create it and who I am.

The same hands.
The same heart.
Just a new vision and direction.

There’s something about Scotland in wild weather.

The wind.
The stillness before the rain.
The way the landscape makes everything else fall quiet for a moment.

These are the kinds of celebrations I’m endlessly inspired by - intimate, intentional, deeply connected to place.

Not overly polished.
Not performative.
Just real moments, held within extraordinary landscapes.

And somewhere within it all - the cake becomes part of the experience too.
Shared beside the fire.
Carried through the hills.
Remembered as part of the feeling of the day itself.
