A little drama in the details.

Deep mineral blue, fractured gold and soft, almost weightless petals. A cake designed to feel a little unexpected 🩶

I love the way contrasting textures can completely change the feeling of a cake. Smooth against rough. Delicate against something a little darker. A touch of the wild, always 🫶🏻

This is where I want wedding cakes to sit, somewhere between cake, art and the landscape that inspires it.

Would you choose something a little unexpected for your wedding cake? 🤍

Thinking about your wedding cake but not quite sure where to start?

There’s no right way to begin.

You might have a very clear idea of what you want, or you might simply know that you want something that feels like you, and that’s absolutely fine.

I love the process of taking all those little pieces, your venue, the landscape, colours, textures, flowers, the things you’re drawn to, and bringing them together into a design that feels personal to you both and to your day.

From the first sketch to the finished cake, the design evolves naturally as I create.

So, if you’re planning a wedding or elopement on Skye, across Scotland or somewhere further afield, here’s a little look at how it all works at Wilde Cake Studio 🤍

Save this for when you’re ready to start thinking about your cake, or send it to someone who is currently planning theirs ✨

Joy.

The kind that’s contagious.

The kind that has everyone smiling without even realising it.

Every wedding has its own atmosphere. Some are quiet, some are emotional, and some, like this one, are simply full of life.

Zoë and Brendan were fortunate with the most beautiful June day at Achnagairn Castle. The morning of their wedding, I foraged some heather for their cake, something that Zöe really wanted to incorporate into their design. It doesn’t usually bloom on Skye until August / September so finding those first few flowering stems felt like a little gift from nature 🌱

Looking through these photographs, it feels as though every part of the day came together exactly as it was meant to 🤍

It’s often the smallest details that become my favourite part of a design.

Every cake begins with a clear vision. The sketch gives me direction, but I don’t try to control every detail. As each element is shaped by hand, the finish evolves naturally, making every cake unique while staying true to the original design.

There’s intention behind every design, but room for the cake to develop its own character as it’s created.

That’s one of the reasons I love creating in this way 🤍

I love seeing a wedding cake beautifully photographed.

But I love it even more when it becomes part of the story.

At sunrise, at the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, S + W celebrated the beginning of their marriage surrounded by mountains, flowing water and complete stillness.

Seeing them laughing, sharing cake and soaking in that moment is a reminder that a wedding cake is never just something beautiful to look at.

It’s part of the story.
Part of the celebration.
Part of the memories you’ll carry home.

This is why I create for couples who feel drawn to Scotland for something beautifully different 🤍

I’m endlessly fascinated by how light transforms a surface.

The same form can feel entirely different depending on where the shadows fall, what catches the light, and what is left unseen.

For me, design begins long before decoration.

It starts with atmosphere.
With movement.
With creating something that feels as though it belongs to its surroundings.

This piece was inspired by shifting light, weathered landscapes and organic forms - brought together through hand-shaped rice paper elements and layered surface work.

Not simply created to be viewed.

Created to be felt.

Created slowly. Finished with intention.

———

I always come back to the details,
the texture, the movement, the layers that quietly shape the feeling of a design long before anything is ever tasted.

Because the most memorable pieces are never just seen.
They’re experienced.

For the couples drawn to artistry, atmosphere, and celebration that feels entirely their own.
