Sometimes things just aren't fair.
I was making a Cake Angels cake for Olivia's 18th birthday but she didn't quite make it to her milestone birthday.
Us Cake Angels dread the thought of these families losing their beloved children.
The family still had a celebration yesterday to celebrate Olivia's birthday and the life she lived.
Mum's words were "she was our sunflower".
I hope you all had a lovely day, I'm sure Olivia was watching over you all.

I had the absolute privilege to make and deliver a cake donated to the Junior Camp Quality 40th Birthday celebration at the Melbourne Zoo.
Emily Evanesce Crick and Brin Mitchell both came with me which took so much stress off, thank you my darling girls.
Kristy, another Cake Angel met me there and helped to set up with some of her cookies and other goodies l picked up from more Angels on the way.
It was a day, but it was a good day.
Went into the city afterwards, checked out the State Library, had a bite to eat and a bit of a wander, it’s been so many years since l have done that.
These volunteers and children are just the epitome of strong and good.
We weren’t able to make a day of it at the Zoo but we did manage to see the tiger on the way out so we were happy haha

Jacqui from Make A Wish organised this cake through the Angels for a local young lady who was celebrating her birthday on the weekend.

Hello Beautiful People
WARNING - Long Post Ahead.
I wanted to update you all regarding Dettie's Unique Cake Designs.
I don't feel I need to explain myself but I feel would like to as I have no problem sharing my feelings and certain parts of my life with you all.

Some of you will know I have struggled a bit with things over the last 3 or so years regarding the demanding job cake decorating can be. I have contemplated finishing up a few times but something always kept me going with orders, usually my gorgeous customers x

Over the Christmas break, I had to decide one way or the other.
When my beautiful elderly father ended up in hospital Christmas night, something clicked and the decision was made there and then.
You see, I have taken on a bit of extra care with my darling parents who are 88 and 90 years of age (how amazing is that?)
My beautiful Mum has now got to the point of needing even a bit more help with meals etc..
She has taken care of Dad tremendously and now it's time to give her a bit more help.
Although there are a few more reasons behind my decision, this is the main one. Time for their children to step in and as I live just around the corner, I could not be happier to step up. Priorities change. Nothing makes me happier than to know they can ring at any time and I will be there to help.
In all honesty, I also needed to do this for my own physical and mental health.
So.........this leads me to the next thing......YOU!
You, my customers, my "cakie" friends, customers who are now friends, friends who became customers and family.
THANK YOU!
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your orders, your beautiful words of thanks, your photos of loved ones celebrating or wedding photos, your wonderful reactions to my creations and the trust you had in me to create something special for you all.
Weddings, Birthdays, Engagements etc..even a cake to celebrate a vasectomy haha (good one Deb xx)

I have cried, laughed, been amazed and felt so special with some of you amazing people.
To my decorator friends that I have made along the way, THANK YOU!
Thank you for getting me through some tough times, thank you for advice, sharing your loves and just, well for being you.
I look forward to remaining friends.

You may see a cake from time to time on here as I have a huge family and I always seem to be doing a cake here and there, so I can still get my cake fix haha
