It’s that time of year again! Gingerbread Folk. So I thought I would give you my Gingerbread Spice Blend recipe … Just replace the spices in your gingerbread/cookie/people recipes with this one.
Gingerbread can be any time of year, so I like to make a bulk lot to fill a 250-300ml jar. You could, of course, use any measuring tool you want. just make sure it is by volume and not weight.
For example, if you decide that one part equals 1 teaspoon then you use that one. For me I use tablespoons and being Australian, our tablespoons are equal to 4 teaspoons.
3 parts Ground Ginger
1 part Ground Dutch [preferably] Cinnamon
One part Ground Nutmeg [see note].
NOTE: If you really want to go the extra mile, grab a fine Parmesan cheese grater and great a whole nutmeg instead of the jarred up ready ground one.
