My Story
Hi everyone,
I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself and share a little about who I am and how Dessert Corner & Hire came to be.
My name is Simone, and I started my first business, Simone’s Frosted Dreams, while living in Cranbourne. Some of you may already know me as the “cake lady.”
My business focused mainly on custom cakes, and I spent many weekends attending local markets, building relationships, and sharing my creations with the community. I absolutely loved being part of my clients’ special moments and creating cakes that became the centrepiece of so many celebrations.
But like many small business owners, I eventually found myself taking on too much. I was exhausted and knew I needed to step back. I put my business on hold and returned to full-time work.
About a year later, my partner and I decided it was time to escape the rental cycle and work towards buying our first home. Not long after, we found the perfect place that ticked every box for our growing family.
It was then that I decided it was time for a fresh start and a new name.
Simone’s Frosted Dreams has now become Dessert Corner & Hire.
Not long after moving to Koo Wee Rup, we had our first born son in 2021 during the pandemic which was tough in itself, while also navigating my son being born early (32 weeks/8 weeks premature) and later discovering he has a disease that was not diagnosed at birth further causing complications. Joining our family in 2024 was our daughter who was born exactly on 40 weeks perfectly healthy and happy!
During this time, I found myself returning to the kitchen and rediscovering my passion for baking. Creating desserts once again reminded me why I started this journey in the first place.
Baking has always been so much more than simply making something sweet. It’s how I show love, celebrate life’s biggest milestones, and create lasting memories for others.
Some of my most treasured moments have been creating my children’s birthday cakes each year. Watching their excitement as their ideas come to life reminds me that cakes and desserts are so much more than flour, sugar, and butter. They’re part of the moments we remember forever.
Over the years, I’ve been incredibly grateful to share in so many special occasions through my business. From birthdays and baby showers to weddings and celebrations of every kind, it’s a privilege to create something that brings people together.
Every cookie, brownie, cupcake, cakesicle, and custom creation that leaves my kitchen is handmade with care and attention to detail. To me, desserts aren’t just treats. They’re part of birthdays, baby showers, weddings, anniversaries, and all of life’s meaningful moments.
As I’ve grown, so has my vision.
This new chapter allows me to offer so much more than custom baked treats.
