🗞️ Blackwood Fired Bread has news 🗞️
Tomorrow will be the last drop for sourdough bread in the shop and Sunday will be the last market day at Boyanup Farmers Markets 😭
The bread business is turning wholesale, which means no more retail sales for at least the foreseeable future.

Please don’t give the girls any grief in the shop 😬 We know the bread is absolutely delicious and it’s a bummer for the locals who have supported us, but alas small businesses have to adapt quickly as environments change, if they want to keep moving forward.

See you tomorrow from 8am! We suggest you buy up big, slice and freeze, to keep the sourdough goodness in your lives for as long as possible 🤓❤️

Blackwood Fired Bread is on the lookout for a dedicated and reliable baker to join our small team in the heart of Jalbarragup. This is a rare opportunity to work with naturally leavened sourdough, traditional techniques, and a beautiful woodfired oven — no experience required, just a genuine willingness to learn.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
* Feeding and maintaining sourdough starters
* Preparing dough
* Performing stretch and folds on large quantities of dough
* Shaping loaves by hand
* Tending the woodfired oven and baking loaves
* Cleaning and maintaining the bakery to a high standard
* Managing baking timelines efficiently and working to a production schedule
* Monitoring inventory levels and notifying when ingredients or supplies are running low
* Possible attendance at Farmers markets for retail sales

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
* Physically fit and capable of repetitive, active tasks
* Non-smoker with impeccable hygiene
* Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised
* Responsible, forward-thinking, and great at problem-solving
* Honest, reliable, and committed to consistency
* Good time management and ability to work to deadlines
* Holds a current driver’s license (essential for occasional errands)

POSITION DETAILS:
* Permanent casual role (4 days a week) including weekends
* Daytime hours only
* 4-week trial period
* Immediate start
* Paid under the Baking Industry Award
* Located in Jalbarragup, WA

Today Blackwood Fired Bread had the honour of receiving a substantial amount of funds from the Grant Committee for The Native Forestry Transition Scheme. This wil enable us to buy a hand built stone mill all the way from Austria, to produce our own flour from local sustainable wheat growers. It will also allow us to get energy straight to the bakery, amongst a number of other things.
This is a HUGE win for our little business and we are beyond stoked to get the bakery up and running!
