We’ll be open as usual over the Easter weekend and are taking pre-orders for hot cross buns only. The link is in stories and our bio if you’d like to place an order.

There’ll also be plenty of buns available over the counter on both days.

When pre-ordering buns please make sure you select the appropriate day and check for email confirmation.

Recently around the bakery 🫐🌼

We’re clutching at the last of summer’s goodness - hoping the zucchini galettes and tomato slab will hang around for a few more weeks. The blueberry frangipane tarts are still going strong; we had them at our first market stall so it always feels a little nostalgic when they re-enter our annual rotation.

The cooler weather has us dreaming up our next sandwich, so quick sticks if you’d like to try a salad sanga before it’s gone.

And, of course we’re in the midst of a hot cross bun frenzy. They’re naturally leavened, gently spiced and filled with sultanas, currants, cranberries and candied orange peel. Pre-orders for Easter weekend are at the top of Morgan’s to-do list, so more on that front soon 🐣

It’s the most abundant time of year here in the Yarra Valley, and we’re feeling very lucky to make use of such special produce.

This weekend we’ll be putting lots of local goodness to use. The galettes will be filled with zucchinis from mum’s garden and the plums and cherry toms were all organically grown by some of our lovely customers right here in Healesville. This year’s doughnut jam is made from the tastiest (yes I did force my family into quite a few raspberry-picking trips over the summer). The Saturday sandwich will be packed with fresh veg and we’ll be filling the linzer biscuits with their gorgeous blackberries too.

On a similar note, our lemon bowl is looking empty, so if you have any to spare please bring ‘em along on Friday or Saturday - we’d love to swap for baked goods.

Sandwich Saturday 🥪✨

This weekend we’ll be adding fresh sangas to our Saturday lineup. We’ll start with simple dill pesto and salad on our country slab.

Each week Siena will trot back up the hill with a basketful of produce from our friends at I’ll get scrubbing, Morgan will do the slicing and Aleylah will make a zingy dill and pine nut pesto. Fingers crossed they’ll be ready from 11 🤞💚

Late summer in the bakery. The grass beside our little shop has turned to crispy yellow and we find ourselves constantly waiting for rain.

We’ve recently added a few new savoury snacks to our weekly rotation. The zucchini and whole wheat galette is filled with lemon, dill and pine nuts, and is available on Fridays in the bakery. Tomato and basil pesto is our slab of the season - we’ll have it on Fridays and Saturdays in the shop, for as long as bright, juicy tommies and fragrant local basil are around.

In other news, has refilled the pottery shelves with some beauties made on her latest trip to Japan. And we recently found out our favourite Greenwoods biodynamic apple juice has been discontinued, so we’ve stocked up to serve it over ice for the remainder of the hot season 😢🍏

A sunny weekend in December ☀️ Things are feeling rather hectic at the moment, in the best way possible 😊

We’re so excited to have a selection of flowers for sale. Shortacre Farm grow all of their flowers and foliage right here in Healesville, using sustainable and regenerative techniques. Annie creates the most beautiful arrangements and I often say that the day she brings bakery flowers is the highlight of my week, so we’re very pleased to have some bunches for you to take home.

This weekend will be our last full opening week for the year! And your last chance to stock up on dark rye, light rye and sesame bread. We’ll be open on Friday and Saturday from 10. See you then!

We are beyond excited to have a selection of pottery in the bakery. Her pieces are made from hand-sourced clay and wood-fired over a 100-hour period. Each object is entirely unique as the wattle ash glazes are developed by the flames of the kiln. Endlessly proud of my little sister!

A number of pieces were already snapped up last week, but Siena will be keeping the shelves restocked over the Christmas period 🌟

✨Xmas eve preorders✨

Our final bake for the year will be on Wednesday December 24th! We will have a limited range of goodies, which are available for xmas eve preorder collection only, at the bakery from 10am-4pm.

We’ll be doing multiple fruit mince pie bakes throughout the day, with a morning and afternoon collection window, so please make sure you select the appropriate time frame when ordering.

Our last day open as usual is Saturday December 20th and then the bakery will be closed until Friday January 23rd.

A huge thank you to Grainz, Burrum Biodynamics and Blue Wren Bakery for hosting such an inspiring and educational event. We’ve returned with an even greater appreciation for rye and are feeling excited to include more whole grains in our baked goods.

It was so special to visit Tan and Steve, see their beautiful farm and learn more about biodynamic practices. Burrum grains go into almost everything we make, so we felt very lucky to see them growing in the field 🌾❤️
