Hi all I have started a new chapter in life's journey. I'm still doing a bit of catering and cakes but I now want to share my love of good wholefood with other people to help them with healthier lifestyle.
If you can please like and share.πŸ™

Let me introduce myself and give some background on me.My name is Shannon Fraser-Butler, I was born & brought up in the south west of Western Australia. I started my apprenticeship as chef in Bunbury but soon moved to Perth to finish my apprenticeship at Matilda Bay where I got to work with amazing local, fresh produce. I then moved to the UK where my love for farm to plate developed, working in a rural area on the tail end of Mad cows disease farmers &restaurants were doing things differently to what I had done before. It was where the my understanding of we need to know where & how our food comes from, but also how using seasonal foods to the fullest. After nearly 5 years I met my now Australian husband & we came back. On coming back I worked up in Perth where I met Jude Blereau who was launching a book called Wholefood cooking and my journey started with a different style of cooking but with the same basics of real food, cooking seasonal, knowing your farmers & how your food was grown & cooking from scratch. Luke & I then moved to the beautiful Blackwood with a baby on the way as I didn't want to bring my children up in the city. We believe it takes a village to raise a child & growing up in the country I felt I needed to go back. Being both chefs we picked up work at the pub. But pub life doesn't fit in with a young family. After our second child I had a brain wave to open a cafe in Greenbushes. It was a hard slog but it gave us great work life balance we got to work with our beautiful community to build something that people travelled from everywhere for our food. We worked with local farmers & businesses. We were part of the fabric of the community in lots different groups. After 12 good year's it was time to close that chapter of our life. We still worked in the Blackwood for 2 years. Our kid's needed different needs & that has brought us to Australind for the next chapter of life. With this I needed change as after 30 years in the kitchen my love of food is still alive, but the kitchen doesn't love my body. So I embarked on a new journey hitting the books and studying nutrition. With love of good food & well-being I want to help people with healthy habits.
Please can you like and share my new page Wholefood living with Shannon.

I have been part of the Greenbushes Community Garden since it started, it was nice to drop by yesterday always knowing there is large amounts of rhubarb and herbs in Community bed to take a little to create a beautiful Apple and Rhubarb tart to go in the display fridge at the Bridgetown Hotel.
Community Gardens are great places to meet like minded people and build on your gardening knowledge.
Nothing like filling the whole oven double parked and then having to ici them all.🀣
Lots of yummy cakes this week.
I can tell you my body is feeling a little sore this afternoon.

Yesterday when I started my bake shift at the Bridgetown, the waitress came in and said someone is here to see you.
I went out and it was a old customer from Greenbushes that used to drop in on their way down south for cake. He was very excited to be able to get his hands on my cakes.
When we had the shop we didn't realise how much people travelled to get our food and cake. You are just trying to keep up with everything and sometimes don't realise how your food touches someone life.
As chefs you look at food as feeding people but really we are nurturing their soul.
Some days you need that little reminder what you have trained, gone through the tough shifts, but made it your passion.
Thank you for dropping in to get your fix of cake i hope they were how you remembered them and reminding me what I do makes people feel happy 😊
Some yummy cakes this week.πŸ˜‹

So I've been quite on social media for a bit as I have had alot of changes going on.
After 19 years of living in the Blackwood region, having 2 amazing children, opening a cafe, catering for so many beautiful events, being part of this amazing area with community groups, meeting fantastic people, working with local businesses and farmers to create tasty food.
We have had to say bye for now and change where we live, moving to Australind.
But I'm not totally giving up on Tasty Edibles, I'm still doing catering at Linga Longa, looking forward to True Grit in October.
I'm also collaborating with some exciting people at Galloway Springs for Grounded, more details to come but it's going to fantastic.
I'm still being the cake fairy at the Bridgetown hotel and Vat.
My body is feeling sore after 35 years in the kitchen so I have been trying to study trust me with everything going on and a person that struggled at school this isn't easy. But I'm studying nutrition and gut health.
I'm hoping this will lead me into a path where I can help people on their way for a better relationship with food and how to nurture themselves through better eating habits with more hands on guiding path then a white room.
I still love food, my career but it's time to take it in another direction.
The past 19 years in the Blackwood has been a crazy ride, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
So watch this space and I'm still taking on catering I'm lucky I can use a kitchen up here.
I will keep you updated with my happenings.

A day of creating food Made with Love.
But here's a full circle funny story.
During covid we had this guy walk in our shop wanting to order Pizza's and get some local knowledge as he had just brought a property over the highway & needed a plumber & electrician.
We got chatting and he told me what he wanted to do with his property, I thought that cool. I'm a sucker for regenerative farmers. We gave him the number of our tradey's.
In the cafe waiting was another customer, this other customer must have thought I wasn't showing her the same attention, later that night she wrote a bad review saying I was flirting with younger man.πŸ˜†
Today I took hold of some of that younger man's produce and wow it what can I say it is incredible full of freshness, life, flavour & love.

Next bit of the story, I started following as they were a new kid on the regen seen in our region.
Raquel posted about a podcast with , I listened and was captivated. I messaged Raquel & told her how much I enjoyed it. She came into the shop we hit it off and now have collaborated on a few things now.

Today I'm using local ingredients and creating magic for people to eat at Galloway Springs Farm event with Charlie.
My passion has always been fresh local food's that burst with flavour, nutrient dense and grown with love.
Then me to honour that love with more love to make bellies sing.
Thank you to all the farmers that work so Frecking hard to grow food.

My garden is in abundant at the moment, this is this morning pickings.
I have had many people asking what I'm up to since closing the cafe.
Last year I took a bit of time out after feeling very burnt out physically, mentally and emotionally.
I did a few odd bits of catering, potted in my garden & spent time with family.
But like my garden which is full of life, I'm ready to get back into some catering.
I'm taking bookings for Linga Longa, I will be doing pre Wedding Pizza's, Grazing Platters, dinner's and breakfast.
I will take on small jobs that I feel I can manage outside.
Like the old days I try to use as much locally and my own garden produce. I will be turning all of this goodness into different things that will eventually go into something I cook or onto something I make.

In the next few weeks I will take you on tour of the food bowl I get to use and samples of the menu's I have planned.

I'm feeling excited to be back out there doing weddings and events.

If you have something coming up please contact me.
Oh and my food truck is still sitting in my yard with a big❓️❔️❓️❓️
