It has been a little while between market days for us… and a lot has been happening behind the scenes at 81 Acres. This season has been about resetting. Learning and rebuilding.

Since the start of the year, I have taken on 81 Acres as a sole trader, running the farm on my own. It has meant wearing all the hats (and boots) while working through a tough six months managing predators and protecting our pigs and future litters. All while staying true to what we stand for: ethically raising pigs in a true free range environment in open paddocks.

It has not been easy, and I've had help from amazing friends, family, neighbours and community. Thank you all 🙏

And through it all, I have had the best little helper by my side 💛 CJ has been keeping a very close eye on our newest piglets… making sure they are growing strong, happy and safe.

Back at Adelaide Showground Farmers Market this Sunday, 26 April – limited stock, but we are super excited to be back.

You’ll find her outside at the Adelaide Showground Farmers' Market from 8.30am to 12.30pm. Support South Australian farmers this Christmas by buying direct from the people who grow and make your food.

We are super proud and huge thanks to all the judges, it really means the world to us as a small business and farmers. Totally stoked to see our wessex saddleback pigs enjoyed by the best in the biz. 🌟 🥳Huge congrats also goes out to our mates and finalists Choice Mushrooms 'from the earth'.

RED ANGUS CATTLE // So grateful for the rain this week and a few shoots of green grass poking through. Our red Angus cattle and little 2024 calves enjoying a bit of hay and sunshine today. And the answer is yes we will be bringing our beef to market in the coming month.

PASTURE RAISED PORK // These pigs have found the last bit of green grass on our place thanks to a leaking trough. Our pigs graze and are fed daily with a mix of Spent Brewers Grain (thanks to 🙌) and grain mix from our local fodder, including barley wheat peas and legumes. Seasonally they also have seconds fruit 🍎 🐖🐖🐖
Now you know why they taste so good...Happy pigs, equals simply sensational tasting pork, it's pretty simple. Enjoy!

Free Range piggies are not for the faint hearted, that's why there are not many people doing true free range piggies. This lil video shows azza and best mate coops fixing the water troughs broken irrigation fittings. This can be a daily occurrence on hot days, pigs are too smart for their own good.
