A new chapter for coffee at Barnett’s ☕❤️

Our new espresso machine has arrived, and yes, we had to go red. It belongs here 😍

But the real upgrade goes far beyond the machine.

Our team has been back in training with Danes Coffee Roasters the coffee professionals we’ve worked alongside for more than 15 years refreshing every part of the process, from weighing and timing each shot to grinder setup, cleaning routines and consistency in every cup.

Because good coffee isn’t just about having great equipment.

It’s about the people behind it, the training, the details and doing the same thing properly every single time.

New machine.
Refreshed barista training.
Tighter standards.

A family baking story that began in 1934.

From John Frederick Barnett opening the first family bakery in Macclesfield, South Australia, the craft and knowledge were passed from one generation to the next - through Kevin, Frank, Adam and eventually a fifth generation of the Barnett family.

Along the way came different towns, different bakeries and different chapters: Macclesfield, Keith, Yankalilla, Bordertown and, in 1995, Crescent Head.

The Crescent Head chapter was built by Frank, Rae and Adam together.

Frank and Adam worked side by side in the bakehouse - father and son, 3rd and 4th generation - passing on recipes, techniques and decades of baking knowledge.

Behind the scenes, Rae helped keep the business moving through the shop, staff, office, banking, wages and administration. Years later, she passed much of that knowledge on to me.

Today, Adam remains hands-on in the bakehouse, working alongside our bakers and protecting the recipes, techniques, quality and standards carried through generations.

And together, Adam and I continue the Barnett’s Bakery story today.

A lot has changed since 1934.

Different generations. Different tools. Same commitment.
